Job Description


The Role: The Performing Arts Teacher at The Winstedt School works with all students from Reception through to Year 13. They are also a member of a team of dedicated curriculum specialists. A Drama Teacher\xe2\x80\x99s role is not just about playing games and directing end-of-term plays \xe2\x80\x93 it is about helping students develop confidence to express themselves. You will be responsible for helping students find their voice while providing them with the necessary feedback, encouragement, and support. Key Responsibilities: Performing Arts

  • Plan and prepare engaging courses, units, and lessons with topics which follow the curriculum themes \xe2\x80\x93 IPC/Key Stage/The Winstedt School Diploma
  • Teach and assist students to develop creative expression while nurturing artistic abilities
  • Create an environment which equips students with the skills to express themselves and become reflective learners
  • Encourage students to takes risks and develop a Growth Mindset
  • Maintain resources and oversee the ordering of supplies
  • Collect evidence of learning and monitor progress
  • Develop and implement programs for classroom use
  • Apply appropriate and effective teaching methodology
  • Prepare and submit Progress Reports to Heads of Schools and the Principal as required
  • Support students with Portfolio development to aid progression
Other Duties:
  • Co-teach one of the secondary level homerooms
  • Direct the annual schoolwide drama production
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide cross curricular opportunities
  • Attend training sessions both internal and external
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Head of School, Principal, and CEO
  • Liaise with other health professionals, senior teachers, co-teachers and administrative staff as required
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Develop knowledge and expertise within the team and by engaging in and conducting professional development activities
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within the team and with children, senior teachers, co-teachers and other stakeholders
  • Suggest, lead and participate in service development and improvement activities within the team
  • Join and contribute to Committees to ensure a progressive and inclusive School community
  • Undertake duties to supervise students before/after school
Desired Qualifications
  • Valid Teaching Certification
  • Tertiary degree in Drama/Education/Special Education
  • Minimum experience preferred - 2 years
  • Previous experience in an inclusive education setting
