You will be working in a rapidly evolving business area, often in challenging regulatory and legal environments, requiring you to be innovative and capable of building deep commercial relationships with customers and counterparties. What's the role The Environmental Products Trading Business (EPTB) operates in environmental product markets across the globe and has the following objectives: Build Portfolios and Optimize: We leverage deep understanding of compliance and voluntary markets - and the connections between them - to capture opportunities across market mechanisms, geographies, methodologies, vintages, contract duration and type. We integrate perspectives from all demand sinks and supply sources in real time to take proprietary positions across the environmental value chain. This leads us to build portfolios that warehouse significant optionality, structure and risk, with the objective of optimizing returns. Risk Manage, Develop Structure, Take Positions: We warehouse risk - price, volume, credit, liquidity, reputation, technical, quality, operational, regulatory to name several - and pursue diversification & mitigation of these in our portfolio construction, structure development and option creation. This informs our proprietary position take, leading us to capture outright price movements from intraday through to multiple years. Manage External Relationships: We are experienced in building long lasting relationships with third parties, from ideation through to start up and into material production or offtake. We are proficient in connecting the financing, commercial terms, operations, systems and platforms that enable sustained delivery, continuously refining these in the pursuit of efficiencies and scale. Agility: We anticipate new products and opportunities, pivot quickly and build positions ahead of market evolution. As examples: adapting to new restrictions, reinventing business models, commercializing emergent technologies and interpreting regulatory changes in and across the markets we participate in. EPTB is a highly capable and creative global team with collaboration, humility and a quiet determination at the core of our culture and identity. The role will require the individual to lead by example within this community and beyond, fostering effective relationships throughout the global team and across functions within Shell Energy Trading (SET). EPTB Southeast Asia & Oceania is responsible for trading environmental products in Regulated markets of Australia and New Zealand new emerging trading schemes in South East Asia as well as originating deals in international Voluntary markets. Reporting into the Regional Team Lead for Southeast Asia & Oceania, you will primarily be responsible for meeting targets for Gross Margin, seeking out exposures that add structure, build flow and embed and manage optionality across the short and medium with an emphasis on material and sustainable contributions. Your primary focus will be to accelerate book building in markets of existing capability namely, New Zealand and Australia as well as developing secondary market trading capabilities in the International Voluntary Markets from the Asian time zone. The emphasis is on growing new, scalable and sustainable income streams. Further, you will be expected to contribute to EPTB's expansion into new products and new markets as they develop within the region, which will be within the coming few years. What we need from you We require a creative, profit focused individual with excellent analytical skills and capable of contributing to our team ethos. Working under tight deadlines and conflicting pressures, the candidate will prove able to continue delivering to an excellent standard, with clear focus on the bottom line and priorities in hand. Candidates are required to have a wide set of multidisciplinary skills including: Significant frontline trading in illiquid markets is ideal, with experience in options modelling and management particularly desirable. Strong quantitative skills, the ability to progress complex negotiations and to structure/monetise optionality are essential. Ability to build trade books, develop/structure exposures, manage price risk and monetize opportunity. Experience in trade execution, managing trading exposures and generating value from optionality essential. Knowledge of 'life-of-the-deal' process should be part of your toolkit. Conduct and professionalism in line with Shell's compliance and principles to be part of successful candidates DNA. Excellent communication, relationship building and presentation skills. To illustrate, the ability to present a compelling business case to senior management detailing the opportunity space, implementation plan, resources needed and the expected returns. Be able to build deep relationships with key stakeholders: customers, counterparties, senior leaders, exchanges and regulators. To be able to originate and structure the first deals, then 'industrialize' the process so the deals can be easily repeated in scale.
