We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Vice President, Compliance WPB. Principal Responsibilities

  • The jobholder will ensure the fair treatment of our customers is at the heart of everything we do, both personally and as an organisation
  • This will be achieved by consistently displaying the behaviours that form part of the HSBC Values and culture and adhering to HSBC risk policies and procedures, including notification and escalation of any concerns and taking required action in relation to points raised by audit and/or external regulators
  • The jobholder is responsible for managing and mitigating operational risks in their day to day operations. In executing these responsibilities, the Group has adopted risk management and internal control structure referred to as the ‘Three Lines of Defence’. The jobholder should ensure they understand their position within the Three Lines of Defence, and act accordingly in line with operational risk policy, escalating in a timely manner where they are unsure of actions required
  • The jobholder has responsibility as a risk steward to Regulatory Compliance risks, ensuring that these risks are managed in accordance with the group policies, guidelines & standards. The jobholder should comply with the detailed expectations and responsibilities for their core role in operational risk management through ensuring all actions take account of operational risks, and through using the Operational Risk Management Framework appropriately to manage those risks. This will be achieved by: challenging the Business on their assessment of such risks, taking into account business activities, regulatory requirements, internal and external events, and the sufficiency of the Business’ proposed controls and continuous monitoring plans to mitigate such risk

  • A degree holder with extensive work experience in the area of Regulatory Compliance, in particular in the Retail Banking space, in order to be able to exercise sound judgement in implementing various Regulatory Compliance requirements
  • Should have knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements and expectations under the Banking Act and associated notices, guidelines, circulars, information papers, with regard to retail banking/credit business and branch operations related requirements
  • Should have good understanding of retail banking/credit products
  • Able to nvestigate and escalate incidents, assess regulatory impact and prepare reports to the regulator as necessary
  • Strong awareness of risk and conduct issues, to be able to advocate and challenge the Business on their assessment of such matters and the sufficiency of proposed controls
  • Familiarity of with risks and issues concerning cross border business
  • In addition, it would be a bonus to have knowledge of/ experience in Securities and Futures Act, Financial Advisers Act, AML/CFT requirements, fraud risk, communications with MAS
  • Leadership experience and a strategic thinker
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with executives at all levels including the capacity to articulate the case for regulatory best practices, conduct, risk management and policy in the language of business
  • Ability to develop practical, cost effective solutions to complex issues
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators
  • Experience of interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and / or data and provide succinct summary for management
  • Experience of working within a matrixed environment preferred including reporting internationally
  • Ability to lead change, contributing to joining up with the other teams in Risk and Business within Singapore
