What the role is:You will lead a team that works closely with our statutory boards and across Government to design and implement policies and strategies to enhance Singapore\'s industry ecosystem, attract new investments, and ensure that the fruits of economic growth benefits all Singaporeans.What you will be working on:Specifically, you will lead a team which will: \xe2\x80\xa2 Design and implement policies and strategies to enhance our economic competitiveness and value proposition to investors \xe2\x80\xa2 Review and develop a suite of incentive products (grants, tax incentives, loans, equity, and hybrid instruments) that are aligned with Singapore\'s economic strategies, generate strong outcomes and offer taxpayers value-for-money \xe2\x80\xa2 Assess tax incentive applications/amendments that require Ministry approval \xe2\x80\xa2 Review the performance of individual sectors, identify opportunities for restructuring, and foster the growth of nascent sectors \xe2\x80\xa2 Evaluate business plans comprehensively and critically, including to ensure alignment with our economic strategies \xe2\x80\xa2 Formulate Singapore\'s policy responses to emerging issues such as on economic security and supply chain resilience \xe2\x80\xa2 Monitor and develop our response to international economic and tax developments, such as the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS 2.0) project \xe2\x80\xa2 Be the custodian for the Economic Expansion Incentives (Relief from Income Tax) Act \xe2\x80\xa2 Work with the Ministry\'s Political Office Holders and Senior Management, partners from across Government (especially the Economic Development Board and Enterprise Singapore), and industry stakeholders.What we are looking for:To excel in this role, you should be comfortable with: \xe2\x80\xa2 Translating knowledge and insights into practical frameworks, strategies and policy recommendations \xe2\x80\xa2 Working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to organisational needs and priorities \xe2\x80\xa2 Assessing various viewpoints and proposing recommendations with clear articulation of benefits and trade-offs, employing data, insights, and credible external perspectives in the process 2 \xe2\x80\xa2 Rallying and leading engagements among multiple stakeholders within and outside of the public service You should have: \xe2\x80\xa2 a strong sense of intellectual curiosity \xe2\x80\xa2 a positive and conscientious attitude, with a focus on results \xe2\x80\xa2 an aptitude and passion for policy work \xe2\x80\xa2 ability to supervise and develop a high-performing team, and to work with multiple stakeholders \xe2\x80\xa2 strong analytical capacity, including a firm grasp of economic concepts (e.g. cost-benefit analysis) \xe2\x80\xa2 excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written skills) \xe2\x80\xa2 familiarity with corporate tax and accounting matters \xe2\x80\xa2 keen interest in current affairs, especially in relation to global economic developmentsAbout Ministry of Trade and Industry:The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) seeks to transform Singapore into a leading global city of talent, enterprise and innovation.
