* Design and implement controllers for precision motion stages and/or active isolation systems * Tune controller gains in standard industrial motion controllers (e.g. ACS, Copley Design and implement controllers for precision motion stages and/or active isolation systems Tune controller gains in standard industrial motion controllers (e.g. ACS, Copley, Mitsubishi) to optimize motion system performance Model and simulate proposed stage architectures during design phase and provide recommendations mechanical designers/architects Devise and implement novel control strategies to create performance advantage for Akribis stage systems Conduct experiments and measurements to characterize dynamics of mechanical systems Qualifications Candidate must possess at least Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent, preferrably in electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering, mechanical engineering, physics and/or any other relevant course of study. Advanced degrees (Master's, PhD, EngD, etc.) in a control-related field are preferred. Fresh graduates with advanced degrees and relevant knowledge are welcome to apply. At least 2 years of working experience in precision motion control (e.g. control of semiconductor equipment, machine tools, advanced packaging equipment), process control, or other control-related field/industry is preferred for this position. Experience/knowledge in mechatronics and controls engineering, to broaden scope as a mechanical design engineer, is an advantage. Applicants without experience but with good learning ability and demonstrated experience in control engineering (e.g. from graduate-level research, internships, coursework, etc.) are welcome to apply. Other Information Skillset(s) Requirement: Strong understanding of classical and modern control theory, dynamical systems Understanding of system identification and modeling preferred (FRF, transfer functions, state-space models) Practical experience implementing and/or tuning classical controls (e.g. PID) on mechanical systems Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink or similar control modeling software Experience with dynamics measurement equipment for system identification (e.g. accelerometer, geophones, laser vibrometers, encoders) is an advantage Attributes: Strong sense of accountability to drive the assigned project towards success Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary project team toward a common goal Good hands-on skill and aptitude to debug and solve complex control and dynamics challenges Openness to collaborate with teammates from different engineering disciplines (controls, mechanics, etc.) to come up with designs that are optimal from a system persective Flexibility to adapt rapidly to shifting commercial and technical needs
