HOYA Technosurgical, is a subsidiary of HOYA Corporation, established in Tokyo, Japan in 2013, which has the origin of PENTAX medical business unit in 1974 arising from the merger of former PENTAX medical business unit & Japan Universal Technologies, Inc. HOYA Technosurgical will be setting up their first overseas plant in Singapore focusing on manufacturing, research & development and sale of Chromatography Media to pharmaceutical companies.

Reporting Relationship Reports to: Head of Production, Engineering & Facility Management Reporting to this position: Process Engineer Team Size: 5 – 10 Process Engineers

Main Purpose of Job

• Supervise the technology and engineering related to the overall manufacturing process

• Lead the assessment, implementation, development, and improvement of individual unit processes

• Supervise engineering work for production support activity for chemical manufacturing for productivity and yield improvement, cost reduction, improvement testing/ problem-solving testing
  

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Drive the setup of the engineering processes and coordinates the interfaces and output of the overall process.

• Build and train Operators with unit process engineer for the operations of machinery and maintenance in compliance with GDP, quality and other relevant company’s standard.

• Provide technical policies and technical guidelines for efficiency improvement efficiency, productivity, safety, and quality for assigned processes.

• Identify process issues, escalate issues to R&D department to resolve issues

• Provide direction to process engineers on technical solutions

• In the event of a manufacturing downtime, take immediate action or instruct the process engineer to take action.

• Support troubleshooting of production issues

• Investigate and implement preventive actions at source.

• Formulate and propose cost and investment plans according to plan and need. If approved, be responsible for its implementation.

• Support Production process validation activity in IQ, OQ and PQ, including validation of mass-production equipment, with approved development specification and plans.

• Other activities as assigned by the Head of Production, Engineering and Facility Management.

Report the activities of the process engineering department to senior management during meeting

Essential Experience/Skills EDUCATION: Bachelor/Post-graduate in Engineering/Science (either industrial engineering, system engineering, mechanical, chemical, material science, etc.)

EXPERIENCE: 7 – 10 years or more experience(s) in chemical or medical devices industry

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCY:

• ISO9001 and 14000

• Relevant working experience in process control and manufacturing operations

• In-depth knowledge in ceramics and calcium/phosphate-based products

• Computer literate, proficient at Microsoft office

• Effective communication in English and Mandarin is essential and Japanese is a plus.

• Able to collaborate well within department to execute project tasks.

• Good analytical skills
