The Sensor Hardware team develops sensor solutions and technologies for a variety of Apple products such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The key goal of the Sensor Technology team is to enable the world's best user-experience. New challenges arise every day that require the sharp problem-solving skills of hardworking and experienced individuals. We are looking for Hardware Development Engineer with strong background in electrical design, characterization, data analysis, and system-level troubleshooting to help develop new optical sensors and sensing systems for future Apple products. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications

• Multi-disciplinary understanding of EE, Optics and general Physics principles.
• Strong EE fundamentals and experience with analog and mixed-signal design, especially board-level circuits interface to optoelectronic components.
• Experience in schematic capture (Cadence or Altium), circuit simulation (SPICE) and hardware validation using test equipment (oscilloscope, analyzers etc).
• Good knowledge of inter-module communications protocols (I2C, SPI etc.)
• Proficiency in Matlab or Python scripting tools for modeling, automation, data acquisition, signal processing and data analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and solid teamwork and leadership skills.
• Experience with statistical analysis of production data (JMP, Tableau) and EM field solver tools (COMSOL or ANSYS) is a plus
• Industry experience with high volume mass production for optical sensors is a plus

• Define sensor requirements, verification plan, review sensing system design and qualification process. . Scope new optical sensing technologies and proof-of-concept investigations. . Execution of the design in high volume, including characterization and validation across all development builds. . Analyze engineering and production data sets to validate module and system performance. . Lead failure analysis of optical modules and corrective actions with cross-functional engineering teams and suppliers. . Review designs of factory test fixtures, ensure manufacturing test plans provide adequate coverage to ensure the design is assembled accurately. . Author regular technical communications for executive and cross-functional briefings. . Overseas travel to support product development and supplier teams as necessary, when consistent with government guidance on business travel.

M.S/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optics or Physics; or B.S. with 5+ years relevant work experience.
