Job Description


The SDM is expected to be a reliable technical resource for the Director, providing concise information summaries. The SDM oversees the AFM Operations and provides rationale for decisions made. The SDM duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Technical Knowledge of: \xe2\x88\x92 Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of principles and procedures related to providing technical support services in a customer-oriented environment.
\xe2\x88\x92 Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of and skill in utilizing Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, Systems Center, Azure, Office 365, PowerShell, and Group Policy.

\xe2\x88\x92 Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of client technology support including Windows-based servers, tablet computers, printers, wireless technologies including VPNs; industry standard methods for deploying hardware and software in a complex multi-site enterprise environment.

\xe2\x88\x92 Considerable knowledge of information systems architecture; ability to optimize information access and the integrity of systems
  • Provide technical leadership to onsite staff
  • Provide detailed guidance where necessary
  • Training in general principles and areas of expertise
  • Evaluate the performance of personnel
  • Anticipate, develop, and implement solutions to current and future challenges that face the agency\'s infra environment
  • Understand and anticipate user perceptions of the computing environment relevant to areas of expertise
  • Keep abreast of the latest technological advances as they might affect and/or enhance the Faculty\'s computing environments
  • Be prepared to spend significant effort as senior technical staff, in addition to purely management duties
  • Promote a cooperative, collegial approach to problem solving
  • Encourage interaction between management groups
  • Work as a team with other managers
  • Work with the gvt agency in areas of expertise
  • Be able to interact tactfully with all level of stakeholders
  • Work with agency-wide committees relevant to areas of expertise
