The Sales Engineer will work with the customer teams based on a strategic account plan to properly position NTT Ltd network, cloud infrastructure, and managed services solutions. The goal will be to facilitate on-going projects, help to start new initiatives and sell NTT Ltd solutions. Since the Sales Engineer augments and assists both a strategic account and sales team, experience as a technical leader is a requirement. Sales acumen, IT industry experience, and previous experience road-mapping technology requirements and migrations is critical. The successful candidate must be comfortable in highly complex sales process and is comfortable discussing technology at both a technical and business strategy level.

Essential Functions/Duties

  • Translate business needs into technical solutions, and defining solutions to problems through application of information technology.
  • Lead the technical sales and discovery process and manage internal functional area resources for support as necessary.
  • Conducts deep-dive technical discovery and creates revenue opportunities while effectively managing end-user expectations and deliverables.
  • Performs technical writing activities for Scope of Work (SOW) creation, team trainings, and is a key liaison and feedback channel to product development/marketing for competitive intelligence and market trends.
  • Develop and execute a solution strategy and business plan that supports product growth
  • Oversee aspects of project life cycle, from initial kickoff through requirements analysis, design and serve as a lead as required, to implement the installation, customization and integration efforts
  • Analyze, Design, develop, and document overall architecture of customer systems.
  • Produce a detailed functional design document to match customer requirements.
  • Provide current best practice and 3rd Party solution alternatives as part of the functional design document.
  • Develop a deep technical knowledge of assigned product set. Be the ultimate expert across NTT Ltd products and solutions.
  • Develop strong relationships with Product Management & Product Architect counterparts.
  • Represent Customer and NTT Ltd viewpoints in product scoping, development and design process.
  • Think outside of the box to create a strategic vision for serviceable and supportable products.
  • Conduct regular team trainings on product, positioning, and solution selling.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert core teams focused on specific product sets
  • Coordinate and Project Manage Product Launch readiness activities, such as training, build case studies, and conduct team solution exercises
  • An understanding of the financial and technical challenges faced with running a modern data center.
  • A thought leader in the application of ITIL principles.
  • Strong understanding of competitive technologies, competitor positioning, counter-arguments and emerging technologies that could be both cooperative and competitive.
  • Perform Beta product implementations and identify potential candidates.
  • Work with the Product Development team to ensure NTT Ltd is ready to deliver the products as they are released.
  • Be the owner for NTT Ltd documentation, training, process and policy for specific products.
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs (Request for Information ) and RFPs (Request for Proposal).
  • Build supportability metrics and product scorecards to drive strategic product discussion with Product Management and Engineering.
  • Responsible for participating and successfully completing all companywide mandates/training in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all Ethics and professional standards.
  • Complies with all corporate and organizational security policies and guidelines.
  • Abides by all policies and procedures.
  • Performs a myriad of tasks as required and/or assigned.

Education and Experience:

To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able to perform each essential

function satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills

and/or abilities required in this position. Preferred level of education and experience

necessary to successfully perform the principle responsibilities of this position:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or experience in relevant field preferred.
  • Seven plus (7) years\xe2\x80\x99 experience.
  • Strong technical and strategic skills. Willing to get into deep, techie technical details, but also able to see the big picture guide clients on high-level technology strategy and migration options.
  • Able to develop trusted relationships, a strong internal network and use influence to drive change.
  • Displays situational fluency and perseverance to handle challenging business situations.
  • Able to negotiate and compromise to drive consensus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to a broad range of technical and business audiences, including technical and business executives.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with project management experience.
  • Understanding of Cloud Services including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS with knowledge of virtualization techniques such as VMware, Citrix, Microsoft, and KVM.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamental differences between private, virtual private, and public cloud and the use-cases a must
  • Experience with assessing client Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity requirements and architecting hot, warm, and cold-standby solutions in the data center
  • Understanding of cloud orchestration frameworks and its role in IT transformation a strong plus
  • Knowledge of desktop and application delivery methodologies including VDI, Application Virtualization, and Session Virtualization technologies a strong plus
  • Candidate MUST understand the competitive landscape in global networking, data center, and cloud computing
  • Provide thought-leadership and positive direction to the NTT Ltd sales channels
  • Network/routing protocols including MPLS, BGP, DWDM, SONet/SDH, Long-haul & Metro Transport, Ethernet, IP Peering and VoIP technologies.
  • Understanding of CDN, SDN, and SDDC concepts desired
  • Design principals of Data Center Environments and systems including HVAC, Power Density Calculations, UPS Power systems, Fire Suppression, and Construction with relationship to Uptime Institute\xe2\x80\x99s / BICSI Tier ratings and standards.
  • Experience with IP Address management and subnets.
  • Specific knowledge of Server, Network and Storage hardware and software including Cisco, EMC, NetApp, IBM, HP, Linux, and Microsoft technologies.
Required Certifications:

Required certifications that are necessary for successful performance of the principle responsibilities of this position are:
  • ITIL preferred and various VMWare, Micrsoft, CISCO or Citrix design certifications
Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer and possibly other office equipment. Responsibilities may require evening work in response to working with Japan, and other global teams.
