Job Scope 1) Perform first-principles An Opening for a Research Scientist is available in the Material Science and Chemistry Department at the A.STAR Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC). Job Scope 1) Perform first-principles modelling of heterogeneous catalysts to understand reaction mechanisms and design improved catalysts for various reactions, especially in the areas of carbon-capture, utilization, and storage 2) Analyze data and publish findings in top scientific journals Job Requirements 1) PhD in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Material Science or other related fields 2) Solid knowledge in surface science and heterogeneous catalysis 3) Experience with heterogeneous catalysis modeling using first-principles electronic structure calculations 4) Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, and good scientific writing and presentation skills 5) Ability to work independently and in a team 6) Experience with Python programming is an added advantage 7) Experience with Machine Learning is an added advantage
