Our research covers a wide range from application oriented basic research that contains method development to collaborations with industry partners to address specific material / product design challenges. We are looking for highly motivated candidates to join us in these research endeavours. Successful candidates will be part of our team to work on existing and future projects and apply a wide range of simulation methods, to describe a variety of soft-matter materials to support our various research activities in collaboration with other experimentally oriented scientists and industry partners. This position will also include a variety of training opportunities in molecular simulation methods as well as other skills facilitating your personal growth. Job Requirements Bachelor or Master's degree in Chemical/Materials/Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science, Computational Chemistry/Biology, or related field Demonstrated aptitude to work with computational methods Good analytical and problem-solving skills Good communication skills Ability to work independently, yet as part of a team Proactive working attitude to learn and self-improve Strong analytical skills and problem solving oriented Good communication skills and a good team player Agile, adaptable, and willing to learn and develop new simulation methods Proficiency in spoken and written English. Any other additional responsibilities as assigned from time to time Desirable skills: Experience in programming (e.g. C, MATLAB or Python) and experience in customizing open-source programs. Experience with working in a Linux / MPI software environment, with some knowledge of scripting (e.g., Python, Bash). Familiar with numerical computing software and machine learning tools (e.g. MATLAB, Python or equivalent). Having background in engineering topics (e.g. mass transfer, thermodynamics, membranes), numerical methods (e.g. Finite Volume, Finite Element) and Machine Learning/AI Research experience with the simulation of soft matter, especially polymer systems and organic materials, focused on problems in the area of material science would be an advantage. Knowledge of Molecular dynamics simulations, continuum models and quantum chemical simulations, as well as their combination to carry out multiscale simulations would be an advantage. The candidate filling this role will participate in the research and development activities, and reports to the Department Director, Group Manager and project leader. He/She will be required to deliver the technical aspects of current and future projects from research grants and collaborations with industry partners. He/She will be required to clearly communicate his/her work through writing and presentations to a wide variety of audience.
