The Singapore General Counsel\xe2\x80\x99s Office is a high performing and ambitious in-house legal team dedicated to the provision of world class in-house legal services to the Singapore business, across all service lines and corporate functions. It comprises 5 lawyers and 1 legal executive and enjoys a dynamic environment with a seat at the table.
The opportunity
In line with EY\xe2\x80\x99s NextWave Strategy to create long term value as the world\xe2\x80\x99s most trusted, distinctive professional services organization, the Singapore General Counsel\xe2\x80\x99s Office is looking for an Associate Director to join the team to provide advice to the Singapore business on intellectual property, outsourcing and managed services as well as the acquisition of technology services and external partnerships and collaborations with software providers.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with good experience in technology consulting to work and train younger lawyers in an organization that provides managed services and technology consulting services to some of the largest organisations in Singapore.
Your key responsibilities
As the Singapore Technology Lead Counsel, you will report directly into the Singapore General Counsel. You will work closely with leadership of each of the service lines on a regular basis and have access to lawyers in the Global General Counsels\xe2\x80\x99 Office and across the EY network that have technology law expertise, as well as the ASEAN Data Protection Lead Counsel based in Singapore.
As part of your responsibilities, you will:

• 
  Provide first-in-class advice to the organization on legal and commercial risks surrounding technology implementation services, managed services and software agreements;
• Provide timely and strategic dispute resolution advice; and
• Mentor and coach junior counsel in the team.

We are seeking a dynamic and intellectually curious lawyer who is adept at building relationships and is a strong team player that enjoys independent leadership over his/her work. You thrive in an agile and fast-changing environment and bring innovative, out-of-the-box, commercial yet practical and risk-managed solutions to a growing business.
To qualify for the role you must have:

• 
  Been called to the bar in a common law jurisdiction, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a law firm and in-house at a professional services organisation;
• Proven experience in strategic negotiations of multi-year contracts of multi-million dollar deal size, with a market understanding of the project lifecycle and standard vendor contracting positions;
• Be willing to assist the Singapore business with day-to-day contracting advice on plain vanilla professional services agreements such as NDAs, standard General Terms and Conditions and Government RFPs;
• A strong grounding in data protection, information security, intellectual property law;

• Strong presentation and project management skills; and
• Excellent command of the English language (spoken and written).

Ideally you would also have:

• 
  Proven dispute resolution experience in technology implementation and managed services disputes;
• Strong understanding of GEBiz procurement for technology implementation, software licences and managed services, including bulk tenders; and
• Good PowerPoint skills.
