: Sales and Purchase Broker Role:
  • Acts as an intermediary between ship buyers and sellers.
  • Oversees ship sale and purchase transactions on behalf of clients.
  • Assesses the feasibility and risks of pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Analyzes risk management data to identify potential concerns for management.
  • Proactively seeks prospective clients and maintains strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Ensures adherence to service standards.
  • Provides market expertise, advising clients on market trends.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of ships and their owners.
Broker Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a vital intermediary in ship transactions.
  • Acts as a go-between for shipyard and buyer in new-build transactions.
  • Facilitates transactions between two ship owners in second-hand vessel sales.
  • The broker\xe2\x80\x99s role is significant due to the substantial expenditure involved in buying ships.
  • When representing sellers, seeks buyers from various sources.
  • Deals with market dynamics, which can be slow or fast depending on ship demand.
  • Navigates the entire process once a potential deal is identified.
  • Negotiates the price and prepares the MOA contract.
  • Manages issues like existing charters, distant ship locations, and inspections.
  • May assist clients in arranging financing and mortgages.
  • Ensures a smooth transfer of ownership.
