What you\'ll do

The Finance Business Partner uses commercial acumen, analytical skill, and storytelling to provide decision support and challenge that ensures the business takes decisions that maximise value.

The role steps beyond providing analysis and insight - the Business Partner is an architect of organisational change, either optimising existing business models or acting as an \'intrapreneur\' and designing new ones.

With end-to-end visibility, understanding of the entire business and technical knowledge, the Business Partner engages strongly with stakeholders and works jointly with other teams on strategy & planning, innovation, market research and business model change. They piece together information from different sources to develop a truly informed picture of value creation and risk across the organisation, recognising inherent trade-offs. Telling the story observed in the analysis can be done via ad hoc and regular reporting.

KEY TASKS

Business advisory

  • Proactively engage with the front / mid-office teams to frame business questions (which can be a query from the business or self-started).
  • Originate data from various internal and external sources and in multiple fields, including operational, financial and accounting.
  • Use Business Intelligence tools to prepare and analyse data and identify insights on key performance drivers to support decision-making.
  • Report the insights and recommend strategic and tactical action, suggesting improvement and value delivery opportunities.
Financial planning
  • Develop and implement models to forecast financial results and position, enabling working capital and cash decisions and supporting regular outlook and budget processes.
  • Prepare and process data and information required for actual, forecast, budget, interim and year-end reporting to support the reporting of results for Marketing, the Commodity Marketing Teams, and Functions.
  • Evolve and develop processes to improve forecast accuracy and support decision making
Performance management
  • Design and prepare regular and ad hoc performance reports, including analysis and supporting information to meet internal requirements and deadlines for Marketing, related business units and Group.
  • Drive a collaborative process that provides visibility across the value chain performance and enables improvement in performance management.
  • Conduct analysis and provide insight into performance trends and results to identify value and improvement opportunities.
  • Work with Finance Operations to coordinate performance data from all relevant sources and develop on-demand information for users. Educate users on better using the information to gain insights through citizen data science.
  • Work closely with Group Finance to improve internal understanding of performance and the Marketing narrative.
Project management and support
  • Lead or support cross-disciplinary teams in ideating, designing, and implementing ad hoc projects, including establishing new corporate or financing structures.
  • Ensure changes are embedded into the business-as-usual process.
Learning and development
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, big data thinking, and collaborative \'smart team\' working.
  • Stay up-to-date with technology and leverage the latest software tools in analysis and reporting.
Qualifications

What we\'re looking for
  • Degree in Business, Finance with CA, CFA, CPA qualifications
  • Experience in commodity marketing / commercial analysis within a large organisation
  • Good understanding of mining and/or extractive industries
  • Understanding of commodity trading would be beneficial
  • Competent across the range of tools and frameworks of strategic and financial analysis and project management
  • Excellent academic credentials in Business and Finance.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience in business partnering or business consulting.
  • Excellent structured communication and presentation skills.
  • Constructively engage stakeholders in a common cause through developing mutually beneficial solutions and proposals. Can understand business needs and value drivers and recommend appropriate commercial solutions.
  • Some travel may be required.
