Position Description:

This role will be part of the global innovation team, based in Singapore, responsible for the mechatronics technology platform and lead technology activities from research, ideation, proof of concept and proof of values demonstration, technical/functional leading to new product development and/or integrated solutions development. Collaboration with other technical teams within Innovation and Technology group, as well as engineering teams across business units, and more importantly, working closely with product management team to ensure the alignment of key innovation priorities involving mechatronics technology, are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide in-depth technical knowledge and expertise on complex projects requiring mechatronics and digital solutions and apply engineering knowledge and principles to devise innovative solutions.


Bring forth technical leadership and managing concept development projects, including:


Generate innovative concept of product or solution, through systematic inventive problem solving and design thinking, and recommend buy-build-partner approach(es) leading to differentiated (and competitive) product and successful commercialization. Collaboratively work with tech specialists and engineering leaders to develop proof of concept(s) and partner with product management team for proof of values demonstration. Coordinate and develop global mechatronics platform architectures. Find synergy effects between the several product platforms. Drive the vision for summary all platforms to one technology platform for all products.
Steer the development of mechatronics technology platforms that support all business units, with key focus:


Digital solution and modern drive technologies for intelligent and complex fluid and vacuum pump systems Digital solution and modern drive technologies for competitive actuator products Digital solution and modern electronics technologies for pneumatics driven positioner electronics Work closely with technology scouting team to keep tab on the network of industry contacts, technology partners and suppliers, startups, and research institutions, and actively explore potential technology partnerships and collaboration opportunities. Propose investment plan to continuously build capabilities in mechatronics platform. Support, consult and review mechatronics development projects from other Flowserve global teams.
Partner with strategic business management team to put up details project charter and execution plan, with supporting business potentials and buy-build-partner plan.


Assist and evaluate the voice of customer activities of the strategic business management team Analize technology and commercializing potentials for new product or optimization ideas
Develop an international network with the Flowserve teams and the buy-build partners


Define and evaluate world-wide external buy-build-partners and technology partners Support Participate in regular reviews with business and technology leaders across the organization and share the latest update on the innovation funnel. Travel requirement (30%).

Qualifications:

University degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering, Science, or related field, with more than 8 years experience in technology and innovation, with strong interest in exploring advanced technology for potential commercialization. Experience in developing and commercializing new products or solutions enabled by differentiating technologies and go-to-market strategies. Experience in research and innovation activities, with design thinking experience considered as an asset. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to collaborate with multiple functions across businesses. Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment. Extended knowledge on HW platform architecture Extended knowledge on modern software and data modelling architecture concepts Development experience of products with modern motor, drive and power electronics technology Development experience of products with embedded hardware and software integration Development experience with low-power measurement electronics product Development Experience with system and physical process control simulation (e.g. Matlab/Simulink) Development experience with hardware simulation tools (e.g. SPICE)
