Works with a multidisciplinary team of hardware, software, firmware, mechanical, and quality engineers to drive Optical specific product development
Support design of prototypes and manufacturing of optical and atomic emission and atomic absorption instrumentation
Design and develop optical systems for spectroscopic instruments, including monochromatic and interferometer-based systems.
Recognizes cost and schedule implications on projects. Able to meet critical program schedules and technical objectives
Drives technical solutions based on standard or accepted technical practices
Work with R&D as a team to implement product specifications focusing on Optics. Identifies issues and areas for improvement with existing technical processes, either independently or through cross-functional teams. Develop ways to improve technical methodology, processes and products
Preferred characteristics
Minimum a Master or bachelor's degree in science/Engineering specialization in Optics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in Optical Design especially in Spectrometer
At least 2 years of experience in an analytical instrument manufacturing environment
Experience with successful product development
Knowledge of AA and ICP-OES optical system design will be an advantage
Experience in Six Sigma, DOE and Lean manufacturing is a plus
Demonstrate knowledge of optical design and electrical systems/sub-systems of Analytical Instruments
Good understanding of optical modeling and design tools such as ZEMAX
Solid grasp of the engineering change process and function of Product Data Management systems (PDM)
Knowledge in ISO 9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001
