ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create 2D and 3D models for all module components and assemblies in SolidWorks
Modify multi-layer 2D cell mask drawings in AutoCAD under guidance of senior engineers
Build prototype coupons and modules in the lab per build instructions
Set up new test equipment and run pre-defined test protocols
Collect test data and do initial formatting and processing
RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
Diploma in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
\xe2\x80\x9cSafety first\xe2\x80\x9d mentality
CAD drafting skills in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Familiarity with PV module construction processes (material prep, soldering, stringing, taping lamination, trimming, framing, EL, and flash test)
Familiarity with PV module tests/metrology (force gauges, tensile tester, microscopes, dimensional measurement, etc.)
Excellent attention to detail with ability to work on small coupons and large scale modules
Ability to work in a lab environment including safely lift heavy objects (23kg if 1 person), stand for long periods, work next to machines such as pumps, compressors, and conveyors Ability to with vendors or subcontractors to arrange for various services including fabrication of test set ups, etc.
Strong focus on organization, cleanliness (5S), planning, and execution of projects
Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting work. Provides concise reports detailing the progress, status and outlook for projects assigned.
Preferred requirements
Familiarity with setting up new test equipment with a variety of sensors and data logging
Self-starter with ability to work on prototypes given minimal schematics and details
Familiarity with high volume solar panel manufacturing
Knowledgeable on failure analysis techniques such as coring, module deconstructions, sample preparation, and imaging
Handy with typical machine shop hand and light duty tools (presses, saws, shears, drill presses, heat guns, crimpers, drills, etc)
Comfortable working in dynamic environment where priorities might change frequently
