Imperium Commodity SearchJob Title: Senior Steel Trader/Steel Trading Manager, South East Asia
Location: Singapore, Hong Kong or Remote in APAC/SEA
Compensation: comensurate with experience, in the region of 100-140,000USD fixed + bonusImperium Commodity Search is working with a large, multinational steel trading business seeking an experienced and profitable steel trader to manage the South East Asia region for them. Primarily focused on value add products, across pipes, bars and coils, you will be building out the trading strategy and approach for the region, building out the trading desk with excellent support and financial backing from the global business.Responsibilities:

• Manage the structuring and build out of a multi-year trading strategy across the South East Asian region for all steel products within the firms portfolio (bars, pipes, tubes, coils, value-add etc.)
• Build out sourcing and sales relationships across the target region to ensure a profitable regional steel trading desk
• Ensure smooth execution of trades, working closely with financing and operations to facilitate timely end to end steel trades
• Keep up to date on market news, industry events and curves to capitalise on profitable trading opportunity in the South East Asian steel markets
• Work with internal hedging, risk and reporting teams where required, to ensure efficient hedging of the book
• Actively drive margin by negotiating strong terms with customers in the region for all steel trading requirements

We would love to speak wtih you if you have:

• 5+ years experience in a physical steel trading position, covering the South East Asian region
• A good understanding of steel products across pipes, bars, coils. etc.
• Drive and commitment to growing a steel trading desk in the SEA region over a structured period
• The ability to build, road test and problem solve strategy across steel trading
• An understanding of the paper/derivatives markets (preferred but not required)
• Fluency in written and verbal English (additional languages beneficial but not required)
• An excellent communication skillset, with the ability to drive relationships and negotiate across the steel trading sector
