JOB DETAILS Job Title: Supply Chain Consultant, Asia Location: Singapore Reports to: Regional Director, Asia KN code: SIN KS-HP Start date: 15 May 2023 Contract duration:: 2 years COMPANY PROFILE HELP Logistics AG was registered in 2014 as a non-profit organisation in Schindellegi, Switzerland. It is a subsidiary company of the K\xc3\xbchne Foundation. Since 2016, HELP Logistics has established four regional offices; Singapore (Asia), Amman (Middle East), Nairobi (East Africa) and Dakar (West Africa). From the Singapore centre, our dedicated supply chain and logistics experts partner with a range of government, academic, and professional institutions to provide pro bono technical assistance, training/education, and research. Reporting to the Regional Director, you will serve as a supply and value chain consultant supporting the region\'s food security, preparedness, and resilience-related projects. The role requires high technical competency that translates into breakthrough projects to support the organisation\xe2\x80\x99s vision. BACKGROUND Seven million more people in the Asia Pacific region have become acutely food-insecure in 2022, mainly due to the protracted conflict in Ukraine and Global Food Crisis, in addition to conflict and climate shocks; this means an increase of 41.5 million people since pre-pandemic levels and a total of 69.1 million acutely food-insecure people in the region by the end of 2022. As of October 2022, countries most at risk include Afghanistan, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, with Bangladesh and the Kyrgyz Republic requiring close monitoring. Key drivers of food insecurity and malnutrition include higher food, fertiliser, fuel prices, transport and supply chain disruptions, devalued regional currencies, and limited resources to respond to increasing social and economic demands after the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to extreme weather events and conflict. The points mentioned above are further exacerbated by the increase in severity and frequency of natural disasters (due to climate change). There is a need to tackle food insecurity from a supply chain and value chain angle to reduce the negative consequences of natural disasters in a humanitarian context. When improving food value chains in Asia, we naturally reduce the impact of humanitarian needs after a natural disaster as beneficiaries are more resilient and institutions are more prepared to respond.
