Description:

We are looking for a candidate who possess a solid technical background, excellent inter-personal skills, attention to detail, project management skills and a proven track record of success.

Their day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the implementation of monitoring using ITRS Geneos to help support teams pro-actively identify application issues impacting the production application environment.

This includes working with the development community to identify metrics to show transparency to the teams if issues are affecting their applications. Work will also include projects to enhance monitoring across the application portfolio, integrating with new technologies and maintaining existing tooling written in a variety of languages.

• Gather and implement application monitoring requirements;
• Configuring, support and management of the ITRS Geneos platform in a global environment with over 1000 users;
• Provide training and advice to application support teams to implement efficient and effective monitoring;
• Defining, encouraging and/or enforcing good monitoring practises across the teams;
• Supporting a large scale ITRS Geneos hosting platform;
• Working with the vendor to resolve issues found with the product;
• Implementing product upgrades throughout the year;
• Creating new tools to support the ITRS Geneos hosting platform, including design, development, testing and implementation.

Key Requirements

• 2 - 6 years of experience in supporting the ITRS Geneos monitoring products running in a large corporate environment.
• Excellent communication skills, methodical and a fine attention to detail.
• Managing changes from Development and UAT into Production.
• Strong understanding of the Linux operating system, specifically RHEL
• UNIX shell / Perl / Python scripting skills.
• Experience of working within a Site Reliability Engineering role and knowledge of these practices.
• Good knowledge of SQL, specifically MySQL but also other database types.

• Working in a highly pressurized trading environment;
• Event management for applications;
• Experienced in a client facing role in technology;
• Experience with trading applications support or engineering
• Working with source control systems e.g. Bitbucket, GIT;
• Java/AMPS/Kafka/Hadoop experience;
• Configuring/supporting Web servers e.g. Apache;
• Experience with job scheduling tools e.g. Autosys;
• Experience in configuring other industry standard event management tools (e.g. Dynatrace, Splunk etc).
