About this role
We are growing an exemplar team of passionate sustainability practitioners to create impact and influence across the business, our services and ultimately to guide our clients to a more sustainable future. In this role you will run projects that are strategic in nature across a range of different scales including corporate portfolios, infrastructure, masterplans, cities, sectors and countries.
Each project will involve an element of impact quantification, which could include quantifying scope 1/2/3 emissions, the economic impact of adopting circular economy approaches or cost savings from taking a holistic view of developing infrastructure pipelines. This will involve data collection and stakeholder engagement. Clients will include government, multilateral banks and developers.

What will I do?

  • Work as part of a team across advisory with a focus on sustainability managing and leading the delivery of high-quality sustainability related analyses for a variety of projects. You will be responsible for meeting deadlines, monitoring budgets and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets in your own area.
  • Be an inclusive leader, with the ability to communicate sustainability to diverse audiences and act as a subject matter expert and build diverse and inclusive project teams.
  • Focus will be on effectively engaging multiple stakeholders concurrently, acting as the key facilitator for sustainability across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Authoring or reviewing technical reports spanning a variety of areas related to sustainability.
  • Through collaboration with the sustainability leadership team, develop an approach to business development, pipeline planning and growth for the team.
  • Collaborate and engage with our technical teams to continuously improve Arup’s approach to integrating sustainability initiatives and outcomes on our projects.


What will I bring?
  • Recognised relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably at master’s degree level) in economics, environmental sciences, sustainable development, business, finance, public policy or similar area.
  • At least 10 years’ experience with 4-6 years relevant industry experience in sustainability specifically. Experience in strategy, economic or public policy consulting along with a broad understanding of the sustainability policy landscape in Singapore and other countries in Southeast Asia.
  • Strong technical, analytical and project management skills, with experience in delivering sustainability strategy projects. This could range from topics including decarbonisation, climate resilience, broader resilience, circular economy, biodiversity, social value and planetary boundaries with a focus on effectively engaging multiple stakeholders concurrently, acting as the key facilitator for sustainability across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in greenhouse gas accounting, climate risk assessments, sustainability frameworks and reporting standards such as the GPC Protocol, TCFD, SBTi, GRI, SASB, TCFD and UN SDGs. Qualification as an accredited professional in the use of these frameworks and reporting standards or equivalent would be an advantage.
  • Business development skills with experience in engaging new and existing clients on sustainability or ESG, managing and coordinating proposals and service development.
