About the Unit Yara is the world's largest producer of ammonia, nitrates and NPKs, offering solutions for sustainable agriculture respecting the environment. Our fertilizers and our crop nutrition programs were designed to help the sector of food production and to meet the needs of a growing world population. Our products and solutions help industry reduce emissions, improve air quality and prioritize effective operations safely. Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) produces, sells, distributes and markets fertilizers and industrial products across Asia Pacific and Africa regions, with offices location and operational units in 20 countries. The region employs over 1800 employees and has a long history in the Asian Pacific and African markets, focusing on develop crop nutrition concepts that increase food production and create value to the growers, in particular smallholder farmers, whilst minimizing environmental impact of agricultural activities. YAA is currently undergoing a major transformation, aimed at shifting the existing business models, generating new revenue streams and ultimately delivering profit through new Farming Solutions related activities. Production and Operational Excellence are also a major part of that strategy, as keeping our assets running reliably and safe is essential to ensure Region’s profitability and ultimately fulfill our mission to feed the world and protect the planet. The assets within the YAA Region are Babrala (India) and Pilbara (Australia). In addition, a number of small units across the markets will also be within the scope of the HESQ and Operational Excellence activities. This position reports to the Executive Vice President of Yara Africa & Asia and is located in Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations of Babrala and Pilbara plants by providing direction and support to Plant manager and the management team.
• Accountable for safety, technical and financial performance of the plants.
• Be the owner for the Production and Operational excellence vision and strategy in YAA, responsible for the implementation of OKR’s, related initiatives and KPI’s deliver.
• Drive the continuous improvement mindset in all YAA sites.
• Ensure compliance with legislation, Yara’s steering documents and other internal rules or requirements stipulated by the company’s governing bodies
• Promote, support and participate in good social citizenship together with other internal stakeholders - such as the Country Legal responsibles - and with external stakeholders - such as regulatory bodies, local communities, etc.
• Drive the People agenda in the unit, including delivering region’s workforce and succession planning, with special focus on talents, critical positions and DEI.
• Define the improvement agenda in Yara Africa & Asia related to Operational Excellence in close collaboration with YAA Leadership Team
• Align YAA with Yara Global Plants (YGP’s) standards, ways of working and governance practices for the region’s large manufacturing sites (Babrala and Pilbara), as well as small sites, terminals and warehouses.
• Owner of regional initiatives linked to YGP’s agenda (e.g. digital initiatives, TOPS/HOPS roll outs, reliability program, etc.,)
• Drive the agenda of safe, efficient and cost optimal operations across the region’s logistics operations in close collaboration with line management

Profile

• Ideally 10-15 years’ experience in manufacturing, with proven senior leadership abilities in chemical production and technical environments
• Change Management and influencing experience in large corporate projects.
• Excellent team coaching as well as organizational development skills
• English (fluent witten and verbal) skills are necessary.

Other Qualifications:

• Higher university degree in Engineering or Business Administration,
• Strong analytical abilities and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to think strategically to “see the big picture”
• Ability to establish and maintain a high level of trust and confidence
• Ability to build, manage and motivate teams across cultural boundaries
• Ability to work independently and in teams, connecting with all levels of the organization
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Drive to challenge established practices and processes when required
