Job Description

Business Function:

Group Strategic Marketing & Communications is responsible for building, protecting, and enhancing the DBS brand in an increasingly commoditised banking industry. Working closely with all units within the DBS Group, we create and execute integrated strategies that focus on communications especially digital communications, marketing, and research to differentiate - and elevate - our brand from the rest of the competition.

Responsibilities:

To enhance DBS' corporate reputation and showcase its business achievements through media/PR and content marketing, led primarily on integrated marketing channels with a focus on earned media. The purpose of this role is to ensure that DBS maintains its share of voice in key business dailies, broadcast, trade publications, and media that matter. The role will entail proactively campaigning strategic corporate themes across different external channels that are important in driving the strategic agenda of the institutional and wholesale banking business. The candidate will need to work closely with internal partners and business stakeholders (across all levels). Key accountabilities include:

1. Enhance DBS' reputation through proactive and positive profiling of our Institutional Banking business and Treasury and Markets business such as Group Transaction Services and SME Banking, Debt Capital Markets etc.

2. In partnership with relevant business leaders and marketing teams, proactively identify, strategise, and execute leadership campaigns to reach out to identified stakeholders through integrated communications plans and campaigns.

3. Identify different and new ways of profiling the business and its related world-class innovation projects. This can be done via engagement with relevant academics, editors of business journals and authors.

4. Work with relevant teams within the bank to engage with digital communities by:

  • Generating and curating content for LinkedIn and other relevant social media and content platforms
  • Where relevant, identifying communities and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to engage
  • Cultivating relationships and building rapport with key media including industry thought leaders and academics
5. Provide strategic counsel, plan, and execute on strategic communications and thought leadership campaigns so as to positively predispose our stakeholders (investors, customers, employees, etc.) to the bank.

6. Mitigate and manage potential media and social media issues.

7. Use analytics and social listening tools to measure effectiveness of campaigns and to further strengthen engagement.

8. Support communications efforts for corporate projects as and when required.

Requirements:
  • Preferably at least 10-15 years of experience in a corporate communications/media relations role. CVs with experience from the tech and financial industry will be prioritised.
  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
  • Able to work in teams, and yet execute as an individual contributor.
  • Strong sense of ownership of results.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines and projects at one time.
  • A sense of humour and a wilingness to work well with others to achieve the desired goal.
  • Ability to think out-of-the-box.
  • A passion for the banking and finance industry.
  • Ability to identify emerging industry trends and get DBS' point of view across to media and KOLs that matter.
  • Strong communication skills including storytelling and writing skills.
  • Keen understanding of media and social media workings and landscape.
  • Ability to identify and cultivate media and KOL relationships.
  • Ability to keep up with the news and relevant industry developments.
