Job Description


Business Function Group Finance aims to deliver world-class standards in reporting, financial planning and finance processes. We provide insights and analyses that help the bank make sound business decisions – whether in the areas of product development or customer profitability. We also provide capital management, business planning, forecasting, and tax and accounting advisory services. The bank is also a certified Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) for the Singapore Qualification Programme by the Singapore Accountancy Commission and an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Approved Employer. Job Scope Within CT, the Corporate Structuring team supports the CFO and Corporate Treasurer in the development and execution of top-of-the house initiatives and strategies for value creation. This role provides an opportunity to work on planning/structuring and execution of transactions to achieve an optimal corporate structure (from various perspectives, for e.g. capital, accounting, tax), and involves detailed analysis and preparation of materials to support regulatory engagement, Board decision-making, senior management committees and business-specific working groups. Responsibilities

  • Originate, research and conduct supporting analysis for different corporate structuring strategies for the Group in order to identify opportunities to better align accounting/tax/capital with firm strategies and initiatives
  • Able to lead projects / co-ordination and execution of complex transactions (capital/wholesale funding):
  • Ensuring proper analysis of risks/ consequences of transactions (from a legal/ tax/ capital/ accounting/ booking model) and all necessary operational aspects are clearly considered and executed
  • Support documentation and manage key internal stakeholders during the approval process for new initiatives
  • Collaborate with various teams/functions within the Bank in ensuring end-to-end process of project is covered
  • Lead team of 2 junior team members within CT and manage stakeholders within the Bank with respect to end-to-end execution of ad-hoc projects as required of the Corporate Structuring team
  • Transactions and corporate structuring advisory – planning and implementation
  • Accounting structuring – deep knowledge of IFRS 9 and hedge accounting
  • Product structuring – knowledge of banking products and structures (pricing/ structuring of hedges)
  • Strategy formulation and financial modelling (e.g. performing financial analyses to assess consequences of specific transactions)
  • Consulting and planning (for e.g. analyzing proposed transactions for risks from an accounting/tax/ capital)
  • Due diligence
Requirements
  • University degree in Business, Accounting, Economics or Finance. Open to other disciplines (e.g. Engineering) if have relevant experience in banking industry. CFA or CA would be looked upon favourably
  • Strong technical knowledge and willingness to expand this continuously: Accounting (IFRS)/ corporate structuring skills
  • Demonstrates first-principles thinking when engaging senior leaders on ambiguous problems
  • Executes a hypothesis driven approach to problem solving; reasons through underlying issues; anticipates likely points of controversy and escalates as appropriate
  • Ensures high quality, detailed and accurate analysis
  • Attention to detail is critical yet versatile enough, to able to structure bespoke often-times complex transactions
  • Able to summarize complex analysis and draw out meaningful insights and conclusions
  • Solid understanding of IFRS/ tax/ corporate structures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
