OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

  • Manage the direct and indirect tax position of Takeda legal entities in , including managing any tax litigation as well as the direct and indirect tax audits
  • Supervise and ensure that all tax matters across APAC region are being properly handled for including but not limited to tax accounting, tax compliance, tax litigation and transfer pricing
  • Provide advice and support to the head of finance team in APAC and help actively educate business partners on relevant changes in tax legislation with material impact on the business
  • Play a key bridge function between the global tax functional leads, TBS tax solution team and local finance team
ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Establish network to all business in , analyze tax implications for transactions & provide high quality tax support to internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Business Development, Supply Chain, HR, Commercial Managers, etc.).
  • Liaise with & support Global Tax on a regular basis in the areas of Tax Operations, Transfer Pricing
  • Support Global Tax by monitoring & evaluating the tax consequences of business and legal entity restructuring, organizational changes, M&A / Licensing transactions, financing, profit repatriations, as well as other non-routine transactions.
  • Responsible for monitoring legislative change which will have a material impact on the business.
  • Proactively evaluate tax risks & discuss mitigating actions with Global Tax, including the preparation of clear position papers.
  • Monitor & co-ordinate transfer pricing adjustments / documentation within region in cooperation with Transfer Pricing Team.
  • Accountable for all aspects of quarterly / annual income tax accounting reporting, including: tax reporting within HFM & HTP, effective tax rate (ETR) forecasting, footnote disclosures, identification of uncertain tax positions and reconciliations between IFRS/local statutory reporting / tax returns.
  • Provide input on tax risks & audit procedures under JSOX.
  • Review contracts & business initiatives from tax perspective.
  • Accountable for the co-ordination of tax litigation with external advisors.
  • Responsible for tax compliance & tax audit defense including: Co-ordinating the preparation of tax compliance with service provider; identification of solutions to manage or mitigate tax risks; co-ordination of tax audits, alignment on information and data requests and liaison with Global Tax Department on audit defense strategy; streamline and monitor procedure for indirect tax, withholding taxes (if any) and other taxes (e.g. real estate, etc APAC, TBS Tax Solution team)

  • Find innovate ways to capture information on materials business transactions for future tax audits and find innovate ways to reduce complexity and improve processes and communication.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Required:
  • University Degree in accounting/finance/law, Masters Degree in Economics/Finance or Law Degree, preferably with a specialization in Taxation
  • Strong knowledge of direct and indirect tax laws in at least one or more key APAC countries (Korea, India), preferably in Singapore
  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting for income taxes
  • Strong tax research, oral and written skills
  • Multilingual with strong command of English
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional tax experience, preferably 3 years within industry
  • The ability to deal with details/complexity while keeping the big picture as well as the ability to explain Tax matters for non-tax people.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desired:
  • CPA and/or certification as tax specialist (in line with regional industry standards)
  • Relevant experience in tax technology/digitalization
  • Relevant experience in life science industry
