About the Tax Manager, APAC Role:
Reporting to the Director of Tax, International Regions, this role plays a critical role in managing all aspects of tax reporting and compliance for APAC (excluding Greater China) subsidiaries in the following areas (including SEA, India, Japan, Korea and Oceania).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and organise the preparation, review and submission of the direct and indirect tax return filings with external providers, track and oversight the tax liabilities and tax payments for APAC (excluding Greater China) subsidiaries
  • Coordinate with tax compliance providers to ensure the proper reporting of completed transactions that occur throughout the year in APAC (excluding Greater China) region
  • Develop and maintain the company\'s transfer pricing documentation including advising on and ensuring execution of operationalising the group transfer pricing policy for APAC (excluding Greater China) region
  • Advise on indirect tax matters as needed, including both VAT and GST in APAC (excluding Greater China) countries.
  • Define the optimal capital structure for each relevant legal entity and partner with Treasury and Tax team for cash movement via repatriation or lending
  • Maintain a deep understanding of various entities, transaction flows, risks, and functions, and advise on the various intercompany transactions, relationships, and agreements and support quarterly and annual US GAAP tax provision reporting for APAC (excluding Greater China) entities including directing and reviewing local tax packages
  • Monitor tax developments across the relevant jurisdictions, as well as legislative, tax and regulatory changes on the domestic and international fronts their implications and provide tax planning direction
  • Advise on tax withholding and information reporting requirements, mitigate adverse tax impacts and PE issues
  • Manage and/or support all APAC (excluding Greater China) tax audits with foreign legislative and administrative authorities, interact directly and handle discussions with external auditors and tax/legal advisers as needed for APAC (excluding Greater China) countries
  • Manage tax notices and audit examinations for the effective and efficient management of tax controversies in APAC (excluding Greater China) countries, organise and contribute to the preparation and execution of ruling requests, tax credits, refund claims, protests and administrative appeals relating to tax matters, monitor and maintain tax rulings and holidays requirements
To succeed in this Tax Manager, APAC role, you must have the ability to understand and communicate complex tax matters to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Requirements:
  • Seven or more years of tax experience, highly preferably in a mix of public accounting and multinational corporate environment
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports and business correspondence
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to be able to interact effectively both internally (across accounting, legal, tax etc) and externally (with consultants, statutory auditors and tax authorities)
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex tax matters to internal and external stakeholders
  • Project management expertise, ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, whilst prioritising based on tax function goals and business needs
  • Detail-oriented individual able to lead medium/high complexity projects driving them through execution: analysis, recommendation, and implementation
  • Extensive experience in working within tax rules in APAC (excluding Greater China) countries, regulations and tax authorities, with specific focus on India, Singapore, Japan, and Korea
  • Bachelor\'s degree in accounting/finance is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to work with all levels of management, staff, consultants, attorneys, and taxing authorities
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • A strong work ethic and passion for being hands-on in problem-solving and execution
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical skills, written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to clearly convey tax concepts to management and global audiences
