UWCSEA East has a vacancy for August 2024 for a full time Primary School Teacher Librarian. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and passionate educator as the East campus reimagines the place of our library in mission \xc2\xadaligned learning at UWCSEA.

The successful candidate will be a highly resourceful and forward-thinking collaborator, passionate about delivering exciting learning and a love for reading.The post holder will work directly with campus leadership and support staff, understanding their curriculum needs, proactively helping with the development of resources and working directly with student learners to develop literacy and information literacy skills.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide a happy, stimulating, safe learning environment for all children and bring a sense of energy, joy and fun to the library.
• Building community literacy -\xc2\xad working intentionally with learning leadership to develop reading, information and media literacy in students, staff, and parents.
• Teaching and Learning \xc2\xad- As UWCSEA develops alternative pathways and new courses, there will be opportunities for suitable candidates to lead some of this work.
• Resources - curation and promotion of digital and print resources to support teaching and learning.
• Learning Spaces -\xc2\xad working collaboratively with the Facilities team to manage and maintain a positive, vibrant and stimulating library learning environment.
• Professional development -\xc2\xad supporting and helping to shape professional learning initiatives within the College.
• Strategic thinking -\xc2\xad contributing to the strategic thinking of the library team with excellent analytical, organisational, project management and problem-solving skills, to build effective community engagement.
• Networking \xc2\xad- connection with other teacher librarians and relevant professional groups, locally and internationally, to share ideas.
• Teachers should be willing and eager to participate in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academic; Personal & Social Education; Service; Activities; Outdoor Education.

Person Specifications

• A relevant degree and professional teaching qualification are essential.
• Extensive experience in running a school library and promoting information literacy is essential.
• A specific library qualification or equivalent training is highly desirable.
• An experienced educator with a passion for working with diverse people and creating meaningful connections.
• Experience with some of the following tools and platforms is an advantage, e.g. Google Apps for Education, Apple technology, Follett Destiny library management system, Zoom, Epic SchoolsPlus, EBSCO databases and Springshare\xe2\x80\x99s suite of Libguide products.
• Experience working in inclusive and diverse teams, high levels of intercultural competence, flexibility of approach and a collaborative style are essential.
• Excitement and enthusiasm for lifelong learning, design thinking, transformative conversations and giving quality feedback on learning.
• A track record of developing successful innovative programmes will be a distinct advantage.
• A passion for reading, children\xe2\x80\x99s literature, and for building a diverse and inclusive library collection.
• Successful teaching experience within a K\xc2\xad12 context.
• Experience teaching online and using blended approaches is a distinct advantage.

Admin

• Manage the effective daily operations of the Primary Library including collection development, budget management, circulation, patron data and overdue books
• Proactively seeks effective resolution of enquiries and complaints
• Provide leadership, supervision and capability building of library assistants and IEC staff
• Facilitate effective staff support with training and guidance
• Maintain up-to-date procedure manuals and library documentation
• Develop and foster positive relationships with UWCSEA community members including departments
