Key Accountabilities

Location: Tuas

• Develop fundamental understanding of Fouling Control coatings and technology attributes and relevant services
• Understands drivers for work and understands external customer requirements, asks questions to clarify where required
• Identify solutions to fulfil the gaps in current coatings performance test methods by gathering ideas to develop existing or new designs and test methods
• Looks for and implements relevant testing/support of existing technologies, products, and processes
• Effective development and management of long-term plans
• Identify risks and barriers and propose recommendation to successfully implementation of the test method
• Understand engineering design to support the development of new processes / equipment
• Design, carry out, evaluate, and interpret results experiment independently for review with manager
• Effectively collate and report results, effectively analyses data and patterns and proposes conclusions and recommendations within agreed timescales using appropriate methods.

Explains function/technical concepts in a way that technical team understands its value

• Plan, conduct and evaluate trials (e.g. application, production processes, equipment) as required
• Coordinates test programs with technicians and technologists
• Effective communication and liaison with others within the team in Akzonobel and 3rd party suppliers and contractors
• Responsible for preparation of lab experiment reports and procedures of relevant process
• Identify and support digitalization and automation activities of processes
• Demonstrate an understanding of IP, legislative demands, standard products and/or technologies, including application and testing recommendations in pertinent fields
• Identifies improvement needs and suggests improvement activities/projects. Supports roll-out of improvement solutions
• Maintains a safe working environment e.g. member of 5S team, supports H&S engagement audits, supporting BBS processes.

Experience

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s/ Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical Engineering or any relevant
• 3-5 years of relevant experience as design, application engineer or in any relevant field
• Experience in technology or product development projects, particularly in paint testing.
• Able to understand 3D drawings a plus
• Good practical, analytical and laboratory skills. Working knowledge in design of experiments is an advantage.
