Summary:
The role of the Assistant Trade Manager based at the local Singapore Agency will be to formulate short & long term strategy with the Trade teams and drive performance of the assigned trade by directing the local sales team.

To perform well in this role, you will need to have strong communication and problem-solving skills together with strong interpersonal skills. You will be required to manage large sets of data and have the experience in doing sales related work.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Meet/exceed assigned sales targets for assigned trade, including container volume, logistics and other maritime value-added services
  • Optimise liner assets and resources to meet target vessel utilisation
  • Keep abreast of market trends including monitoring competitors\' activities as benchmark reference for the dynamic business
  • Take the lead to coordinate with respective internal stakeholders for trade specific changes and support the local sales team
  • Develop and implement Trade strategies and plans. Work with Trades to ensure pricing offer remains viable and competitive.
  • Maximize yield on vessels and select best cargo-mix loading in full ship situation, optimize the use of the assets (ship space & equipment) and applying the principle of yield management
  • Submit accurate weekly Trade forecast and performance report for management review and actions.
  • Identify new business potential for sales team to develop into profitable growth businesses.
  • Organize and participate in joint sales visits on customers and involve in negotiation with customers to achieve desired results.
  • Monitor and report competitors\' activities and market trends
  • Attend Trade tele-conference and conduct sales meetings to constantly monitor performance
  • Maintain close rapport with the accounts where rate negotiation is controlled in Singapore.
  • Carry out duties and meet other objectives as and when directed by the Head of Commercial, the Management and the Trades.
  • Continue engagement with different stakeholders in the network
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum a Degree Holder in relevant disciplines
  • 3 years of experience with knowledge in the container shipping / ocean freight
  • Candidates with prior sales experience and trade experience is preferred
  • Proficient in MS Excel
  • Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills and stake-holder management skills
