Job Description

Academia is looking to hire a Trainee Teacher to develop intellectual and rigorous local-global learning resources in the disciplines of English, General Paper and the Liberal Arts. On-the-job training and in-class teaching opportunies with a main teacher would be provided.


Responsibilities

• Assist the curriculum team at Academia Education Center to develop and enhance learning materials for students ranging from secondary school to junior college

• Assist teachers with teaching and hosting lessons, whether physical or online, including managing students in classroom

• Assisting with marking and review of students’ work

• Develop engaging educational content to be delivered in print and/or digital platforms, alongside the main curriculum, should the individual be presented with the opportunity to do so, or expresses the desire to explore it within reasonable constrains.
  

Profile and background

• A strong background and proficiency with English language is most important, English or English literature majors are especially welcome but not absolutely required. Majors in humanities and social sciences are also a good fit.

• A good work ethic, and being able to communicate effectively and manage the expectations not only of parents and students, but also the teachers you work with.

• Willingness and ability to work on 1 weekend (due to the nature of the tuition industry)

Prefered working schedule: Tuesdays to Saturdays or Sundays to Thursdays

• Be able to work independently and collaboratively with other teachers to synthesize content and research materials from various sources

• Creativity, meticulousness and rigor should be deployed when developing educational content, in line with the high standards of the organisation
