About the team
The AWS Infrastructure Data Center Supply Solutions (DCSS) team manages the expansion and investment strategy for AWS Data Centers. The team is responsible for developing metro location strategy, site selection and due diligence, growth and maintenance of vendor partnerships, and commercial and legal negotiations.

The team is looking for a Transaction Manager to support the Strategy and Investment managers to procure capacity to support long term scaling strategies for AWS's infrastructure regions in APAC. As a key member of the team, the Transaction Manager will manage all areas of transaction deal flow related to datacenter procurement projects in the region. You will manage the business processes, commercial contracts, transactional orders, due diligence activities, request for information/quotation/proposals (RFx), and preparing financial metrics and business cases for senior leadership review. You will also help innovate in areas which presents opportunities to invent and simplify, and collaborate with partner teams to design and implement tools that will enable the team to scale effectively, and deliver meaningful impacts to the business.

A successful candidate will be an exceptional communicator with both vendors and internal customers, have a strong ability to overcome obstacles to deliver the right results, possess a strong sense of ownership, and be highly data driven with a passion for continuous improvement. This position involves direct contact with senior AWS leaders and key vendors; you must have a professional demeanor and be able to communicate effectively with people at every level, both internally and externally. This position will be based in Singapore but will require minor business travel for the support of expansion activities, training, and team planning initiatives.

Note: Business Travel will not be required until COVID-19 related travel restrictions have been lifted in accordance to relevant authorities' guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage transactions at a regional level, throughout its lifecycle from new vendor onboarding, contract management, payments, and contact point for vendors on commercial matters.
  • Validate internal stakeholder inputs, engage with vendors, prepare business cases for leadership approval, and drive contract execution with Legal partners.
  • Develop metrics and trend analysis to improve customer experience, achieve business objectives, and reduce operating costs. This will require gathering various data points, which often will be from disparate, ambiguous or challenging sources.
  • Support the site selection process - due diligence, requests for information/quotation/proposals, and financial analysis.
  • Develop market insight in assigned markets; explore supply options and develop recommendations for optimal supply solutions.
  • Lead development and implementation of process and tools improvements to support automation and scalability in order to support a rapidly growing business.
  • Manage a timely and succinct communications plan to stakeholders for in-flight projects.
  • Closely collaborate with Amazon operations, legal, finance, treasury, tax, design engineering and risk management to help deliver highly successful projects.

Key job responsibilities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance or Accounting, Computer Science, Architecture or Real Estate, or related field.
  • 4 years of demonstrable experience in one or more of the following areas: business development, finance operations, sourcing and procurement, project management
  • 2+ years of experience of transaction coordination including supplier communication, cost analysis, negotiations and contracting, and supplier performance management.
  • 3+ years of experience in an external facing role, such as managing commercial relationships with vendors or customers.
  • Proven experience working with data and the analysis, working with existing processes and creating new ones where required, while demonstrating exceptional attention to detail.
  • High level of proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English, and an ability to conduct business in a second language (Japanese, Korean, etc).
  • Comfortable presenting and interfacing with senior leadership.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years of demonstrable experience in one or more of the following areas: business development, finance and/or finance operations, strategic sourcing, spend analysis and management, contract management, project management, data center sourcing, lease management.
  • Proficiency in data center infrastructure technologies, with relevant certification (i.e. CDCDP)
  • Proficiency in networking technologies including IP peering and transit, submarine cable systems, DIA, and fiber connectivity.
  • Experience related to procurement of data center infrastructure goods and services
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to provide big picture insights from highly granular data.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence technical and non-technical cross functional teams to produce results.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a complex, ambiguous and fast-paced environment, with demonstrable ability to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-organizational teams in an international, diverse and complex organization.
  • Proficiency in the use of business applications such as SalesForce, Tableau, Google Earth, SQL, Wiki development, HTML
