Job Description

The UAT Tester is responsible for testing the applications and systems for any unexpected behaviours before changes are released into the production environment. The member manages the daily activities in the test cycle for both waterfall and agile projects. He/She is expected to deliver high-quality test results in a timely manner, at the same time validating the comprehensiveness of the test cases to cover all requirements.

Test planning

  • Understand test effort by analysing requirements.
  • Develop test plan with details of scope, timeline, approach, etc.
  • Collaborate with users, project managers, development team, and business analyst team to validate and refine test plan.
Test design
  • Develop test cases based on documentation provided (e.g., functional specification, mapping document), including detailed inputs and expected outcomes covering functional flows across in-scope applications.
  • Provide weekly progress on test case design.
  • Create test data via channels, hosts, etc., applicable to execute test cases.
  • Conduct reviews on test plan and test cases with project team.
  • Update requirement traceability matrix (i.e., requirements mapping from the test cases back to the functional specification) to validate scope coverage.
Test execution
  • Perform sanity checks by executing defined set of test cases to validate basic application flows are working after delivery of code drops.
  • Perform automated and manual test execution, raise defects, and track progress.
  • Document test results and validate them with users.
  • Provide regular status updates to project team.
  • Use popular tools such as Jira, TestDirector, Selenium, etc., for test execution and defect management.
Test closure
  • Prepare sign-off form.
  • Prepare test closure report.
Qualifications
  • Strong functional knowledge in any of the following banking domains - account services, payments, trade finance, treasury, accounts control and reconciliation services, cards, loans, and credit administration.
  • Good knowledge of project delivery approaches, test methodologies, and associated tools.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in a bank or similar organisation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage conversations with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills; ability to adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Fast learner and self-starter; ability to pick up knowledge and skills through on-the-job training and demonstrate initiative.
  • Preferably degree or diploma in IT, engineering, or banking.
