Key Role responsibilities: The global Strategy team works with senior leaders to develop and implement BNY Mellon’s long-term objectives, shape external partnerships and alliances, and respond to the increasingly dynamic financial services ecosystem. It plays a central role in the building of BNY Mellon’s global strategy and narrative. The strategy function leads an inter-disciplinary portfolio of corporate and business priorities on themes such as growth, innovation, efficiency, and resiliency among others. The team is located across BNY Mellon’s regional hubs – New York, London, and Singapore – and operate as a truly global function. The Vice President, Asia Pacific Corporate Strategy will work closely with the global and APAC leadership teams, and other senior business leaders to support the development of BNY Mellon’s corporate, regional and business-unit strategies in APAC and help maximize our long-term performance. The role is also responsible for tracking execution progress versus regional goals and strategic priorities. This includes management reporting, monitoring deliverables to inform strategic thinking and direction, executing selected cross-enterprise initiatives.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Shaping and supporting development of the business strategy
  • Creating and reinforcing linkages between the global and regional strategies
  • Regional and BU strategy development – working closely with global and regional senior executives to execute strategic initiatives, and helping leadership to create and manage to a holistic picture of the regional strategy
  • Proactively bringing industry and business insights to help management shape strategy, and to provide an independent view / challenge to these plans
  • Provides targeted support e.g., leadership events, board presentations

The successful candidate will demonstrate or possess:
  • An ability to think strategically about market segments, geographies and client challenges and integrate insights into concrete aspects of the client relationship
  • Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills with the ability to produce professional output in different formats; strong writing ability and an eye for detail are a must
  • Demonstrated record of engaging with executive teams in shaping business strategies, developed sense of judgment and ability to balance business needs in an objective and practical way
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build trust and forge good working relationships with senior executives
  • Proven ability to influence others and promote teamwork across the organization
  • Adequate knowledge of the relevant legal and regulatory environment for the industry globally; familiarity with, or exposure to, international regulations would be optimal
  • Ability to grow within the role – develop stronger leadership and influencing skills; recognized collaborator by colleagues
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure with a track record of delivering against deadlines
  • Some project management experience preferred
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Advanced/graduate degree preferred.
  • 4-7 years of related work experience preferred I management consulting and/or wholesale banking.
  • Experience in Business Strategy required.
