The ESG Manager - Food, Feed and Freight, plays a key role in ensuring that the environment and human rights are respected across the supply chain, notably of soy, maize, feed, protein and chartered freight businesses. The role supports Olam Agri\'s wider sustainability goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support the transition to forest-positive supply chains, source raw materials sustainably, and apply best-in-clas sustainability sourcing policies & ESG norms.

Key Deliverables

The ESG Manager - Food, Feed and Freight, plays a key role in ensuring that the environment and human rights are respected across the supply chain, notably of soy, maize, feed, protein and chartered freight businesses. The role supports Olam Agri\'s wider sustainability goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support the transition to forest-positive supply chains, source raw materials sustainably, and apply best-in-clas sustainability sourcing policies & ESG norms.

Governance

• Ensure that corporate ESG policies and commitments are effectively rolled out
• Respond to ESG due diligence queries from banks and investors
• Conduct due diligence of potential suppliers
• Monitor sustainability risks, including ongoing monitoring of land use change / deforestation maps
• Proactively analyse, identify and ensure appropriate follow-up action on compliance issues.

ESG Programme development and coordination

• Support businesses to develop and and roll out sustainability programmes, such as carbon project develoment, soil/land restoration initiatives, value chain linkages, farmer livelihood programmes, etc.
• Network with partners and identify grant and co-investment opportunities toward sustainability priorities
• Work with business to develop and draft quality funding proposals, concept notes and project frameworks
• Ensure progress toward supply chain certification goals

Stakeholder engagement & industry representation

• Represent the business on various sustainability platforms and events
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders and develop sector-wide solutions where appropriate
• Build strong relationships with colleagues across businesses and departments
• Grievance management and reporting

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• A personal passion for sustainable agriculture and food systems
• Pragmatic, organised and structured, with strong crtical thinking skills.
• On-the-ground experience and a good understanding of agri-business models and success factors are highly desirable
• 8-10+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience with product certification systems, supply chain traceability, monitoring and evaluation, due diligence, auditing, and capacity-building/training are desirable.
• Willing to occasionally travel to remote operational areas
• University degree or equivalent experience in a relevant domain.
• Portuguese or other languages are an asset
