Job Description

The Volleyball Instructor shall be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating a comprehensive training programme that develops students' volleyball skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in alignment with the school's CCA objectives and MOE's 21st Century Competencies Framework.





Key Responsibilities:



Programme Planning and Delivery


Design and implement a structured and progressive Volleyball CCA training plan, in consultation with the Teacher-in-Charge.


Conduct engaging training sessions that cater to students of different skill levels (beginner to advanced).


Emphasise both technical and tactical skill development, including serving, receiving, setting, spiking, blocking, and court positioning.


Incorporate physical conditioning, coordination, and agility drills appropriate to students' age and ability.


Integrate character development and values education (e.g. teamwork, respect, resilience, discipline, sportsmanship) into all sessions.

Competition and Performance Preparation


Prepare students for participation in school, zonal, and national competitions such as the

National School Games (NSG)

.


Organise internal practice matches, selection trials, and friendly games to enhance competitive readiness.


Develop strategic play plans, team formations, and match analysis sessions.


Ensure students understand the official rules and regulations of volleyball.

Student Development & Assessment


Provide feedback and conduct periodic assessments of students' progress in skill, attitude, and teamwork.


Identify potential student leaders (e.g. captains, vice-captains) and mentor them in leadership and communication.


Encourage peer learning and self-reflection through guided discussions and post-session reviews.

Collaboration and Administration


Work closely with the Teacher-in-Charge to align training objectives with school goals and values.


Submit lesson plans, attendance records, and progress reports punctually as required by the school.


Assist in managing logistics, equipment, and safety during all training sessions and competitions.

Safety and Professional Conduct


Ensure a safe training environment that adheres to MOE's safety management guidelines.


Conduct warm-ups and cool-downs appropriately to prevent injuries.


Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and responsibility at all times.

Requirements & Qualifications:



Minimum

relevant coaching certification

(e.g. SportSG NCAP Level 1 or higher in Volleyball, or equivalent). Prior experience in coaching school volleyball teams or youth development programmes preferred. Knowledge of

National School Games (NSG)

format, rules, and standards. First Aid and CPR/AED certification preferred. Good communication and interpersonal skills with youths. Able to work collaboratively with school staff, students, and parents. * Demonstrates alignment with school values and MOE's desired student outcomes.
