Job Description

The Banking and Lending Credit Underwriter is part of the 1st Line of Defense and is a strategic credit risk professional who stays abreast of developments within their own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Given that role is within the 1st Line of Defense, it also requires basic commercial awareness. The role is an individual contributor role and has to work with team members who would also have the same level of subject matter expertise. It is ideal to have good communication,, both verbal and written as well as good diplomacy and negotiation skills required to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. The candidate will be expected to also provide advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.

Responsibilities:

• Full credit underwriting with appropriate risk return characteristics that cover Citi Private Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Wealth Credit Management product range, ensuring appropriate compliance with Credit Policy, Standards and Policies; including the Risk Acceptance standards.
• Work with the Originators in the Greenlight approval process memos (as applicable)
• Preparation of Credit Applications for Initial, interim or annual reviews ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
• Financial Analysis including cash flow statements
• Collateral Evaluation covering Real Estate and other asset classes
• Preparing in consultation with the Legal teams and Originators, and also performing annual review of documentation
• Preparing and reviewing facility covenants
• Assisting in Portfolio Management, including Annual Credit reviews, covenant monitoring and compliance, waivers and extensions and all related system maintenance; portfolio reviews.
• Problem Recognition and assisting with classified loans remedial management
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm\'s reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

• 6-10 years of experience
• Strong and proven analytical, financial structuring and execution skills
• Experience as a credit officer
• Strong knowledge of Citibank\xe2\x80\x99s Credit Policies, Product Programs and Citi Policies would be an advantage
• An in depth knowledge and understanding of Financial Analysis including Financial and cash flow modelling
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Good negotiation skills
• Strong initiative and interactive approach to problem solving
• Displays flexibility and independence in a demanding environment
• Team Player

Education:

• Bachelor\'s/University degree, Master\'s degree preferred
