Job Description


A position has arisen for an experienced candidate to join the Credit Department, Asia Pacific Division in Singapore as a Credit Officer (Corporate Rank: Assistant Vice President / Vice President)

The Credit Officer will be responsible to assess applications for loans, credit grading and credit strategy for a portfolio of project and structured finance transactions in the renewables, infrastructure, transportation and energy sectors. The coverage will span across three regions including Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania.

Job Responsibilities :

The Credit Officer will be responsible for:

  • Assessing that a loan application has:
  • identified the key credit risks for the type of project or structured finance transaction
  • considered and assessed the proposed credit risk mitigants
  • ensured the loans will comply with the Bank\'s lending policies
  • Undertaking consultation and research with origination teams during the credit assessment process
  • Preparing a concise summary of the considerations in adjudicating the loan application and conclude with a recommendation for the appropriate approval authority to consider
  • Early engagement with origination teams on direction of potential deals to ensure they follow the Bank\'s lending policies and credit appetite
  • Undertaking periodic assessments of existing borrowers and support in the preparation of portfolio management reports for the Bank
  • Setting up appropriate and timely action plans for existing borrowers likely to deteriorate
  • Preparing responses to clarifications for relevant regulatory and government authorities, other credit related departments in the Bank and external auditors
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements :
  • Minimum 5 years\' experience with project finance and / or structured finance transactions
  • Experience as a sector specialist with a credit rating agency, infrastructure consulting practice, legal practice or infrastructure investor or credit approver with a financial institution
  • Tertiary qualification and/or professional designation in a business-related field.
  • Ability to undertake research during the review process of a transaction which may also require travel.
  • A Team player with an inquisitive nature and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organising and planning skills
  • High level of numeracy and strong financial analysis skills.
  • Good communicator, both verbally and in writing at business level.
  • Strong influencing skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to simplify and explain complex topics / requests and produce a condensed summary report
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Please note : no approval authority in this role will be given initially, but may be considered after a period of performance
