About the Role

As Vice President of Engineering, you will guide Wego's evolution from scale-up to a hyper-growth, public-company-ready organization. Reporting directly to the CTO, you'll shape and execute engineering strategy across multiple product lines, elevate distributed teams across South and Southeast Asia, and build technical excellence as we expand our 100+ strong Engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

Product-Engineering Leadership

Partner with Product, Design, and Data to translate customer insights into scalable, impactful solutions.

Smart Team Scaling

Raise talent density, promote diversity, and strengthen engagement across engineering hubs, while growing and upskilling teams in every location.

Leadership Development

Mentor directors and managers, implement succession plans, and define clear career paths to develop high-potential engineers into future leaders.

Delivery Discipline

Embed outcome-focused metrics, drive data-informed decision making, and ensure post-launch accountability across teams.

Cross-Functional Alignment

Champion a "first-team" mindset by aligning Engineering, Product, Design, Commercial, and Support functions around shared goals.

Strategic Ownership

Lead mission-critical product and technical initiatives and take on delegated scope from the CTO.

Required Qualifications

15+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years leading organizations of 50-200 engineers at the VP or Director level Proven success scaling distributed teams and multi-layer leadership across time zones Experience shipping high-traffic consumer or B2B platforms through hyper-growth, scale-up, or pre-IPO stages Strong grasp of cloud-native architectures and modern tech stacks (Java, Go, TypeScript, iOS, Android) Fluency in AI/ML concepts, particularly LLM-powered capabilities, with real-world product integration experience Ability to implement outcome-oriented delivery practices and operational rigor at scale

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Domain experience in travel, e-commerce, or other high-volume consumer businesses Experience launching B2C products in Arabic-speaking markets Familiarity with dynamic pricing, revenue management, or marketplace platforms
