Job Description


What the role is:

You will be working on the WAS Metadata Enhancement project as an Intern under Resource Discovery & Management.

What you will be working on:

  • Understand the basics of metadata and how it is useful.
  • Exploring AI-based solutions for metadata enhancement.
  • Identifying and evaluating different AI techniques and models for metadata generation.
  • Conceptualizing innovative approaches to address specific challenges in metadata enhancement.
  • Applying AI techniques to the enhancement of metadata, with a focus on titles, abstracts, and subject headings.
  • Implementing and fine-tuning pre-existing AI models and frameworks for metadata improvement.
  • Experimenting with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and retrieval-augmented generation methods for metadata generation.
  • Managing and preprocessing data, including cleaning and organizing metadata.
  • Troubleshooting and addressing data quality issues encountered during AI-based metadata generation.
  • Documenting and maintaining records of the metadata enhancement processes and any issues resolved.
What we are looking for:
  • Students from Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science related courses are preferred.
  • Students with a proficiency in Python programming and knowledge in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
  • Familiarity with AI frameworks and tools such as PyTorch and Hugging Face Transformers.
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews focusing on AI concepts and applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in technical environments.
  • Aptitude for detailed documentation in AI projects.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Keen research interest in AI technologies and their evolving landscapes.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking abilities.
  • Adaptability in dynamic and technologically driven contexts.
  • Capacity for teamwork and collaboration in project settings.
  • Curiosity and a proactive approach to learning and innovation.
  • An experimental mindset, open to exploring and testing new ideas.
