Prepare, qualify, and submit Welding Procedures per applicable codes, standards, and project requirements for client and third-party approval.
Supervise welding teams (supervisors, inspectors, foremen, welders) to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
Review material certifications, welding consumables, and maintain Welding Procedures records project-wise.
Verify and ensure compliance of welding and testing reports
Collaborate with QA/QC to develop documentation (Inspection Test Plan, work instructions, welding/NDT maps, MDR, NCRs).
Implement updates to codes/standards (ASME, API, AWS, BS, EN) across relevant departments.
Ensure adherence to project quality standards, QMS, and client requirements.
Investigate non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
Expertise in WPS/PQR preparation for various materials (CS, SS, DSS, Inconel, aluminum).
Knowledge of various welding processes and joint design optimization.
Liaise with third-party inspectors and auditors for audits.
Optimize welding techniques for efficiency and quality in workshop/site welding.
Monitor welder performance, rejection rates, and conduct root cause analysis failures.
Develop welding methods to enhance production workflow.
Requirements
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related vocational education
Min 5 years' experience in welding works and as Welding Engineer is preferred
Possess certificate of AWS Certified Welding inspector (CWI) / CSWIP 3.2 is preferred
OR ISO welding cert like International Welding Specialist (IWS)
Knowledge in codes ie ASME/AWS D1.1/ BS EN and ISO standard
Knowledge in various welding process is a MUST
* Experience in Non-Destructive Testing is advantageous
