The Wintel Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting Windows-based server infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance. The role involves administering Windows servers, implementing patches and upgrades, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and participating in infrastructure improvement initiatives. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that IT systems align with organizational goals and meet service level requirements.

Responsibilities | CORE

Administer and maintain Windows Server infrastructure across multiple environments Perform installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows servers and services Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file services Implement regular patching, backup, and system recovery procedures Monitor and analyze server performance, ensuring optimal uptime and resource utilization Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve incidents and service requests efficiently Maintain system documentation, inventory, and configuration standards Participate in capacity planning and infrastructure upgrade initiatives Support project deployments by provisioning and configuring Windows servers as per requirements Assist in migration or upgrade activities for legacy systems to modern Windows platforms Provide technical inputs during infrastructure design and implementation phases

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should be / possess:

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Windows Server administration Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience

Preferred Attributes

Experience with Microsoft System Center tools (SCCM, SCOM) Familiarity with cloud integration (Azure, AWS) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Effective communication and teamwork abilities Availability for after-hours support and on-call rotation as required Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident and change management
