About the Job
The Youth Work Associate is part of a care team and is responsible for engaging residents in holistic and meaningful activities, guiding residents with direction, guidance and supervision in daily activities and being a positive role model.
Key Responsibilities

• Mentor and guide the residents to abide the Home’s guidelines, and develop their strength of moral character and civic duty.
• Feedback to the social workers, case workers, assistant supervisor and supervisor on the residents’ progress and needs through proper recording in communication logs, residents information book and other reports.
• Plan and facilitate group activities, including but not limited to program adjustment and adapting to life in the Home, life skills, conflict resolution, and teaching of life skills to residents.
• Responsible for preventing abuse of residents by adhering to all policies and procedures.
• Journey and guide children and young persons going through trauma experiences and supporting them by building up resilience together with multi-disciplinary team.

Job Requirements

• At least a diploma, preferably in Youth Work, Social Services, Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, Events Management, Outdoor and Adventure Learning
• Able to work on rotational weekends and public holidays
• Keen to work with children and youth sector
• A good communicator
• Work in collaboration with the team

Working Hours

• 44 working hours per week
• The program is a 24/7 community care service, hence flexibility in work arrangement is expected as the need arises.
• Normal Rotating Shift Hours:
  • Morning Shift: 8.00am – 4.00pm
  • Afternoon Shift: 2.30pm - 10.30pm
  • Night Shift: 10.00pm - 8.00am

The Haven is a residential home to care for children and young people who are unable to be cared for by their own families. We provide a comprehensive residential care programme, specially designed and directed towards preparing their reintegration into the community and reunion with their families.
At The Haven, social workers and care staff work towards building a close relationship with the children and young people, seeking to be a friend, teacher and counsellor to help them overcome their past hurts and to build up their resilience to face the future with a positive attitude.
We also provide a programme which specialises in an alternative care approach for teenagers who require further assistance while pursuing post-secondary education, known as Transitions@Haven. This hostel living arrangement helps them learn necessary life skills and encourage independent living.
