Working Hours



Personnel will be deployed at the following hours:

Mondays to Thursdays:

3:00pm to 5:00pm

Fridays:

1:00pm to 3:00pm Programmes may be conducted during

school holidays

, and timings may vary accordingly.

Service is not required

on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays.

Programme Objectives



The objectives of the programme are to:

Engage students in meaningful activities and programmes within an effective and welcoming environment. Develop positive peer relationships, strengthen students' sense of belonging to their class, and improve learning attitudes. Reduce the likelihood and/or opportunities for students to be involved in delinquent behaviour. Create a platform to cultivate peer leadership among members of the After-School Engagement (ASE) Centre. Cultivate a stronger sense of belonging and school affect among students. Train ASE members to organise activities for the student body on a semesterly basis.

Scope of Services



The Youth Worker shall be required to perform the following duties:

a) Engage a core group of students in maintaining and running the After-School Engagement (ASE) Centre.
b) Assist in the development and implementation of engagement programmes.
c) Design and introduce termly programmes for ASE, collated on a weekly basis, and submit programme proposal outlines for evaluation.
d) Collate and monitor students' attendance at the ASE Centre and provide termly updates on attendance.
e) Engage and interact with other students who drop in at the ASE Centre.
f) Monitor the safety and well-being of all students in the ASE Centre.
g) Work closely with the teacher-in-charge to motivate students and equip them with relevant skills and values.
h) Adhere to the school's rules and expectations at all times.
i) Communicate with teachers on all matters pertaining to the GEAR-Up programme.
j) Conduct himself/herself in a responsible and ethical manner at all times.
k) Provide a comprehensive review of the programme at the end of the academic year.
l) Conduct holiday programmes for GEAR-Up students during

March, June, September, and December 2026

.

Expected Outcomes



By the end of the programme, students are expected to:
a) Develop a stronger sense of affiliation and belonging to the school.
b) Become competent student leaders responsible for managing the ASE Centre.
c) Build stronger relationship management skills and foster positive peer bonds.
d) Demonstrate increased engagement in school-based activities, thereby reducing delinquent cases.

Target Group



The ASE Centre supports the entire school cohort of

Secondary 1 to Secondary 4/5 students

, with an estimated total population of approximately

1,060 students

. It is not expected that all students will access the ASE Centre simultaneously. During operational hours, the Youth Worker will primarily engage a

core group of approximately 40 students

who participate regularly in ASE activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience



The personnel

should preferably

possess the following qualifications and experience:
a) Diploma or Degree in

Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Education

, or a related field.
b) Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
c) Ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
d) At least

2 years of coaching experience

and experience working with young people in educational, community, or similar programme settings.
e) Experience in group facilitation and programme development.
