Job Description



Core Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Regional CFO, the Regional Head of FP&A leads the regional FP&A team to ensure delivery of the various Regional FP&A deliverables, which includes planning, coordinating, and controlling production of results and analyses across the various monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles. The role requires significant interaction with members of the regional leadership team, including the Regional CEO, as well as actively partnering with the APAC country FP&A leads.

This is a key position within the Regional Finance Team, reporting to the APAC CFO and International Head of FP&A, and actively partnering with Country FP&A Leads and APAC product business leaders and other senior members of the leadership team to help key stakeholders understand the business and drive results. This role is responsible for leading the various monthly/quarterly deliverables on Forecasting, Budgeting and Management reporting and helps to provide the required information and insight, often on an ad-hoc basis, to different levels of APAC Leadership (local-regional-global) in support of tactical and strategic decisions that drive profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities
Management Reporting/Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Drive budgeting, forecasting and management reporting cycles for the APAC Region and support the associated coordination and preparation required to drive the management reviews and related discussions.
  • Review the quarter close and engage as necessary with Country FP&A leads, Regional Product Leads, International and NY FP&A, and controllership and actuarial teams as needed.
  • Play a key role supporting the various Monthly Business Reviews and Quarterly Business review activities of the APAC Region.
  • Prepare and coordinate the various internal and external presentations on Quarterly Business Reviews, Strategic Planning and Budget related reviews.
  • Prepare and coordinate the monthly and quarterly deliverables on Monthly Forecast Memo of the region and quarterly actual results of the region once quarter close is completed for submission to the International team.
  • Play a key role in Compensation related planning and associated work through engaging with the Global team and country teams (Local HR and Finance)
  • Assist in various adhoc reporting requirements of the region requested by internal and external stakeholders.
  • Key role to support the Three-Year Strategy planning framework and associated engagement with Regional product teams and Country teams as part of the Annual Three-Year Planning exercise.
  • Provide analytical support to deliver required information and insight, often on an ad-hoc basis, to the various product teams in support of tactical and strategic decisions. Insight and analysis will be sought in a wide range of areas, from P&L and portfolio drivers to distribution effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Support the various change management initiatives to improve on various reporting requirements to assist the region in various strategic initiatives such as distribution reporting, KPI reporting to facilitate effective decision making.
  • Training and development for more junior colleagues based out of India FC and Manila share services.
  • Lead, motivate the FP&A teams based on-shore, in-country and in the shared service centers.


Key Capabilities:
  • Above-average communication skills and able to articulate \xe2\x80\x9cthe story\xe2\x80\x9d told by the numbers.
  • Excellent understanding of the key financial drivers for the Insurance industry.
  • Hands on experience supporting finance department activities including Month-end close, Budgeting, Management reporting.
  • Pro-active approach to problem solving with strong analytical and process orientation with the ability to define and validate as-is processes as well as to design to-be processes.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as strong listening skills to understand management and internal client\xe2\x80\x99s needs.
  • Ability to adapt easily to change and handle multiple initiatives with competing interests for time and evolving priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with project teams, business and senior executives as part of a regional team.
  • Collaboration with cross functional teams with track record of success in delivering Process Re-design and change management within an organization preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.


Key Experience:
  • 10-12 years working in Finance department of a large regional or multi-national corporation including time in FP&A.
  • Accounting or Finance degree is required, professional qualification preferred.
  • Experience in the Insurance industry (especially GI) and knowledge of financial services required
  • Experience in the areas of strategic planning, budgeting, reporting and profitability analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work with analytical tools, especially MS Office; good presentation skills
  • Knowledge of financial systems (e.g. SAP,FW, BPC) and various budgeting tools is preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and work closely with cross-functional teams and management to accomplish objectives
  • Well organized, highly detailed, quantitative skills and strong focus on accuracy and able to work independently and proactively
  • Exceptional work ethic, intellectual curiosity, leadership and analytical aptitude
  • Highly analytical, forward thinking, with excellent problem solving skills
  • Adapts easily to change, ability to maintain composure under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing interests for time and evolving priorities
