Job Description


Assist Chef in managing the kitchen, food preparation, supplies ordering and kitchen staff for general food service and functions

Kitchen Operation

  • Ensure kitchen operations are carried smoothly and effectively
  • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
  • Instruct cooks in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food
  • Order food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation
  • Check the quantity and quality of received products
  • Responsible for inventory management to reduce wastage and maximize profitability

Hygiene and Workplace
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness, food hygiene and kitchen safety practice
  • Ensure food handling, sanitation practices and hygiene regulations are followed in accordance to regulations

Equipment Management
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Inspect equipment, work areas and general supplies to ensure conformance to established health and safety standards

People Management
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff
  • Determine production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of services

Administration
  • Assist Chef in kitchen administration duties
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors
