:

This candidate will be responsible for leading, co-creating and implementing cutting edge programmes and festivals to engage a broad-based audience with visual art through, participatory and collaborative approaches.

This role has a strong public programming, collaboration and programme delivery focus, which involves working with internal and external stakeholders to design and present cutting edge and impactful art experiences and encounters for new-to-art audiences for the Gallery.

The candidate will be part of the dynamic Audience Engagement division, to develop strategies in programming to help increase public familiarity with the Gallery\xe2\x80\x99s identity, mission, and services, with the goal of bringing the non-traditional museum going audiences into the Gallery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES but not limited to the below:

  • To plan, calendarise and work in collaboration with strategic partners to implement the Gallery\xe2\x80\x99s audience engagement plans with a vision to create awareness, enhance accessibility and develop meaningful connections between individuals and communities who may be new to art and the Gallery, its exhibitions and collection.
  • To keep pace with developments in arts-based audience and community engagement practices and strategies, access and inclusion practices, trends in engagement of children through the arts, Art X Tech trends, psychographic profiles of local arts audiences, and social impact of the arts.
  • To identify key stakeholders within the eco-system as strategic partners with similar shared objectives and shared stake in audience engagement, who can also ensure that impact remains sustainable beyond the initial engagement with programmes and festivals. This portfolio requires an ability to work closely with and develop relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including artists, arts producers, museum learning experts, academic researchers, social service agencies, members of the public, government agencies, and corporates to co-design the programme around shared and sustainable outcomes.
  • To plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate programmes and festivals which are relevant and effective in engaging a broad-based audience with visual art through participatory and collaborative approaches, that also considers the innovative use of technology and its deployment in creating the experience.
  • To adapt textual and visual content for broad-based audience groups, as well as different audience groups and publicity platforms, e.g. website, print collateral, social media, etc.
  • To work with other internal divisions such as the Learning, Curatorial, Partnership Development and Marketing teams to provide content to maximise opportunities for programme content development, partnership and promotion respectively.
  • To work closely with the Gallery\xe2\x80\x99s internal Museum Research team from the onset to develop and define evidence-based impact measures and an evaluation plan to assess the efficacy of various modes of engagement, and monitor/track the on-going evaluation of the programmes and services and implement improvements as necessary. To conduct regular reporting and sharing of key observations and learning points internally.
  • Responsible for building a travelling schedule of programme and festival engagement throughout the year, liaising with partners on the use of sites and other logistical matters associated with travelling.
Qualifications:
  • At least 5-8 years of relevant work experience in an arts-related portfolio, including designing audience-centred content and public programmes, including children and family friendly exhibitions and programmes.
  • Keen interest in arts-based public engagement and producing accessible, inclusive art experiences for a wider spectrum of audiences, especially those new to visual arts, children and families.
  • Must possess cultural sensitivity and understanding for diverse communities.
  • Have experiences with the processes required to plan, develop and present engaging arts experiences in public spaces, including non-traditional arts spaces.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in audience and content research, think analytically, strategically and creatively to develop innovative initiatives and be proactive in delivering them.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects effectively and deliver quality outcomes within tight timelines and budget.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing a range of administrative processes including issuing and managing contracts, financials and logistics.
  • A proactive team player who is people-oriented, meticulous, resourceful, hands-on and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to lead a team of managers for programmatic strategies and implementation.
  • Able to discuss effectively with external agencies and stakeholders for the smooth implementation of activities and programmes.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to a broad audience base and diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
  • A good command of written and spoken English is essential.
  • Must be able to work on evenings, weekends and public holidays when necessary.
  • Preferably with experience in museum-based learning approaches.
