We welcome you to join our team as: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR / SENIOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR STRATEGIC PLANNING AND POLICY JUDICIAL POLICY DIVISION (3-YEAR CONTRACT) The Judicial Policy Division drives the overall strategic direction of the Judiciary as an integrated whole, and identifies trends and leads in legal reforms. It works with the Access to Justice Programme Office to build trust and confidence in the Judiciary, and ensure that the Judiciary is recognised for championing access to justice through thought leadership. The selected candidate will assist the Director (Strategic Planning and Policy) as well as other senior officers on the team in the areas of strategy and policy formulation, performance management, and thought leadership.What you will be working on:You will be expected to: \xe2\x80\xa2 Refine overall models of justice across the Judiciary \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct environmental horizon scanning for potential changes which can affect the Judiciary and assessing viability of adopting changes and making relevant recommendations \xe2\x80\xa2 Drive research on emerging areas that potentially impact the justice landscape \xe2\x80\xa2 Benchmark best practices for engendering court excellence \xe2\x80\xa2 Conduct empirical studies and policy research to enhance the Judiciary \xe2\x80\xa2 Forecast political and socio-economic trends, their impact on the Judiciary and developing possible solutions \xe2\x80\xa2 Set the key performance indicators and balanced scorecard for the JudiciaryWhat we are looking for:You should have: \xe2\x80\xa2 Preferably at least 3-7 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, policy development and policy formulation work \xe2\x80\xa2 Clarity of thought - ability to distil issues and articulate views in a clear and succinct manner. \xe2\x80\xa2 A self-starter mind-set, exemplified by high initiative and resourcefulness to solve problems \xe2\x80\xa2 The ability to develop and execute ideas and initiatives where there may be no precedent \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to analyse data and synthesize disparate trends to provide meaningful insights e.g. risks and opportunities or alternate/ fresh perspectives \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong learning orientation (e.g. a curious mind, a preference to refine new ideas) \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent analytical skills - ability to understand the policy environment and enhance it by seeding insights about the future, includes looking at policies from a strategic level and understanding inter-linkages \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent interpersonal and communications skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent presentation and writing skills Only short-listed candidates will be notified.
