What you will be working on:

As an Assistant Engineer, you may be deployed to one of PUB\'s five Operations Departments to manage and develop Singapore\'s water resources: 1. Catchment & Waterways As part of the Catchment & Waterways (C&W) Department, you will be part of a team that plans, develops and manages our reservoirs and waterways for water supply and flood control, and integrate them with the surrounding environment in a sustainable manner. 2. Water Supply (Plants) The Water Supply Plants (WSP) Department aims to provide an adequate and reliable supply of potable water at the most economical cost, and to operate and maintain Water Treatment Plants and Desalination Plants to produce safe drinking water to meet daily demands. 3. Water Supply (Network) The Water Supply Network (WSN) Department plays a key role in delivering good water to businesses and end-users 24/7 - to ensure reliable and good quality supply to customers, and to manage and keep water demand low. This is done through various ways such as network optimisation, maintenance and renewal, as well as network planning and data management. 4. Water Reclamation (Plants) The Water Reclamation Plants (WRP) Department is responsible for the treatment of all used water to a quality suitable for the production of NEWater or Industrial Water, and for safe discharge to the sea. Officers may be deployed to one of PUB\'s Water Reclamation Plants in Jurong, Ulu Pandan, Kranji or Changi. 5. Water Reclamation (Network) The Water Reclamation Network (WRN) Department aims to collect and convey all used water for reclamation cost effectively and reliably. This is done through three key functions - Planning & design of sewerage infrastructures; Network operation and maintenance; and Project management. Your responsibilities could involve the following areas: \xe2\x80\xa2 Support plant operations and maintenance of equipment \xe2\x80\xa2 Field work as first respondents to incidents on-site at installations/customers\' premises providing on site investigation, troubleshooting and resolution \xe2\x80\xa2 Attend and manage to customer feedback pertaining to water supply or drainage matters \xe2\x80\xa2 Carry out routine inspections of drainage network system within flood sensitive areas \xe2\x80\xa2 Patrol reservoirs, catchment areas, pumping stations, dams, intake towers, infrastructures, and pipelines etc and in other areas as required \xe2\x80\xa2 Assisting engineers in the budgeting of projects, as well as in the preparation works leading to tender calling of projects \xe2\x80\xa2 Assisting the engineers in project management work During the course of the work, you may be required to work closely with departments, consultants, contractors and other public agencies.

What we are looking for:

• Diploma in Engineering (eg. Civil/Environmental, Mechanical and Electrical as well as other relevant disciplines) \xe2\x80\xa2 Able to work well independently and in teams \xe2\x80\xa2 Good communication and interpersonal skills and possess a positive, can-do attitude \xe2\x80\xa2 Competent in basic computer skills, e.g. use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel spreadsheet, Powerpoint, etc.) Successful applicants will be contacted within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.
