Assistant Head / Senior Officer (chemicals) (3 Years Contract)
Job Description
The Chemicals, Materials and Pharma-Manufacturing (CMP) Cluster takes a leading role in driving, developing and facilitating efforts in Specialty Chemicals, Advanced Materials and Pharma-manufacturing for A*STAR, and supports the Singapore research and development ecosystem to meet industry and public sector needs. CMP Cluster's portfolio covers the areas of Specialty Chemicals, Formulations, Advanced Materials, Pharma-manufacturing, Synthetic Biology, and Agritech.
The Assistant Head / Senior Officer will be part of the CMP Cluster at the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC), with the following key areas of work:
Assist in the administration of A*STAR Research Entities, including governance, budget management and achievement monitoring.
Work with relevant ministries and public agencies, industry partners and public sector research performers to identify emerging trends and competitive opportunities, and foresight science and technology in the areas of Specialty Chemicals, Formulations, and Synthetic Biology.
Assist in the evaluation, conceptualization and development of research programmes to address current gaps, and to build capabilities for Singapore's future readiness.
- Assist in post award grant management to ensure that funded programmes remain on track to achieve outcomes, milestones, performance indicators and budget utilization.
Strong interest in science and technology, emerging global trends, and ability to grasp diverse technical topics.
Outstanding writing and presentation abilities. Experience in engaging multiple stakeholders for outcome-driven discussions is a plus.
Energetic self-starter and proactive learner, and ability to handle complex problems under challenging timelines.
Background in engineering, sciences or equivalent. A background in organic chemistry or formulations would be an advantage.
