Position Overview

The Application Operations manager leads a team of deployment engineers, responsible for supporting ongoing requirements to deploy software releases continuously to testing and highly available production environments. The position will also involve the creation of common standards for deployment of applications across a number of platforms and technologies managed by the company.

Role & Responsibilities

• Drives internal and 3rd party service provider / vendor review meetings covering performance, service improvements, quality and processes in deployment
• Assist as Subject Matter Expert and Drive organizational capability to effectively apply service operations and deployment process
• Key member in the DevOps process to automate existing deployments
• Troubleshoot and resolution of deployment issues and bring relevant parties to resolve impediments impacting service performance, participate in after-action reviews for production deployment activities
• Accompany all new application architectures and deployments with contingency plans in case of failure
• Evaluate production risks associated with production deployment activities, need to make an instant decision to Go/No-Go when a deployment doesn't work as planned
• Maintaining and publishing project Release Plans, Release Calendar, managing schedules, resource allocation, and adhering to the timelines to ensure timely product delivery
• Assist senior leaders in disaster recovery planning and activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or other highly technical, scientific discipline
• 5-10 years of Technical / Application Support experience
• Proven client engagement experience / vendor management experience
• Candidates should have several years of experience in release engineering with prior responsibility for revenue-generating systems in production. Individuals should have an understanding of release engineering that spans both software development and system administration. Candidates should have proven experience of working efficiently in a cross functional team.
• ITIL v3/v4 certification and strong service oriented experience / background preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of IT industry environment and business needs Strong competency in IT technologies covering operating systems, databases technologies, networking, server, load balancing and/or application related domains covering healthcare and healthcare related industries
• Ability to establish and manage processes and practices through collaboration and the understanding of business
• Technical aptitude by understanding the rapidly changing landscape of tools that are used to automate deployments
